Chapter 6

  • Jabal was seated on the couch reading a magazine. It's just two days to their birthday and he needed to make sure everything is intact. Seated opposite him was Jasmine, who as usual was lost in her world of music. She nodded her head to the sound of the beat and you could tell she isn't bothered about anything. Jamal on the other hand sat beside Jabal with his eyes glued to his phone. "Jamal, do you think this will do?" Jabal asked
  • Jamal looked into the magazine and sigh. "Hmmm. I think the other will do"
  • "Jasmine what do you think? The first or the second?" Jabal asked but when he got no reply, he raised his head. "Jasmine!!"
  • She groaned and pull off her headphone. "Chill ok?. Stop yelling my name. And by the way, it's Jas, not Jasmine"
  • Jamal chuckled, and Jabal rolled his eyes. "Jas or Jasmine, that isn't my problem. Just come over here and help choose a venue"
  • She furrowed her brows. "Venue? for what?"
  • "Are you kidding me right now ?. It's two days to our birthday and you're asking for what?"
  • "I told you I'm not interested in celebrating it. But since you insisted, just count me out.
  • "Whatever" he answered but in his mind
  • Jasmin raised her brow. "I heard that"
  • "I didn't say anything or do I?"
  • "You said whatever. I heard you clearly"
  • Jabal turned to Jamal. "Did you hear me say that?"
  • "No, I didn 't hear a thing" Jamal replied
  • She furrowed her brows. She could bet she heard that. "Are you guys for real or you're joking?". Jabal nodded. "That's strange, cause I heard you clearly"
  • Jamal chuckled. "Is that a sign you could read minds?. Like halving superpowers?"
  • "Do you think we have superpowers?" Jamal asked
  • Jamal smiled. "Maybe......"
  • "Shh" Jasmine gestured to him to stop talking, as she strained her ears. "I think someone is coming. I can hear his or her heartbeat"
  • Jabal rolled his eyes. "Are you for real?" She nodded. "I can't hear a thing"
  • Jamal rested on the couch. "Me too"
  • "Try to listen. It's getting closer"
  • Jabal sigh. "I still can't........"
  • "I think I can hear them now" Jamal answered
  • Jabal furrowed his brows. "Are you for real?"
  • Jamal chuckled. "What's up with those eyes. I'm just kidding"
  • "But I ain't kidding. I can hear it"
  • "Maybe you need some rest" Jabal answered
  • Jamal stood up. "Talking of rest, I think I should get some"
  • "Don't tell me you're leaving me with Jabal?" Jasmine whined
  • Jamal chuckled. "Sorry" he cooed and ran up the stairs.
  • Jasmine sigh. The doorbell ranged and she turned to Jabal. "I told ya". He ignored her and stood up to open the door. Standing by the door was Beverly, holding a book. "Hey Beverly"
  • She chuckled. "Hey. Is Jas in?. We need to head to the library now"
  • " Sure. Come in" He opened the door widely for her
  • She walked in and furrowed her brows when she saw Jas seated. "Jas, you're still seated? Are you not going to the library?"
  • Jas smiled. "Nah. I don't still I will want to step out now. It will rain soon" she joked
  • Beverly laughed. "Did you just say rain? Or you're just been lazy?"
  • "Jas is right. It will rain" Jabal chipped in, sounding serious
  • Beverly laughed. "Are you both kidding me ?"
  • Jabal sat beside his twin "We ain't. It will rain in 1, 2, 3......." The sound of the thunderstorms made Beverly jumped on Jabal. "Hey!"
  • She chuckled and stand up . She narrowed her eyes. "Is it raining?" She walked closer to the window and covered her mouth in shock. She turned. "It is raining. How did you do that?"
  • "How do we do what?" Jasmine asked
  • "The Rain thing?"
  • "It's just guesswork, ok?" Jabal answered
  • Beverly sigh and sat on the couch. "How will we get to the library now?" She thought
  • "You don't have to go there, you can solve the equations here" Jabal answered
  • "I think Jabal is right. We can just do it here. I don't think the rain will stop sooner or later" Jasmine answered
  • Beverly's eyes switched. "What..... What are you both talking about?"
  • Jasmine groaned. "Weren't you asking how you will get to the library?" Jabal asked
  • "I never said that out"
  • "You didn't?"
  • "I didn't. How did you hear it? "
  • Jas chuckled nervously as she bites her lower lips and taps her feet on the ground. Things are getting worst by the day. They do not only hear what others say in their mind, to her it seems that can also manipulate the weather. She can also hear others' heartbeat from afar. Although she doesn't know how far yet, but she could bet she hears it. "Jas?" Beverly called, jolting her back to reality. "Are you ok?"
  • Jasmine sigh. "I ... I'm ok. I think I have a slight headache but don't worry, we can still do it together" she stood up. "I'll go get my book"
  • As she finds her way upstairs to her room, she wondered what exactly was happening. "Is there something wrong with us?" She thought. Maybe it's only their minds playing tricks on them. She decided to ignore it and focus more on other things . She made her way to her closet and opened her bag to bring out her book. Her eyes caught sight of her face in the mirror. "Ahh!!!!!!!" She screamed and ran out of the room.
  • The rest heard her and ran upstairs. They couldn't help but wondered what had happened to her, that made her shouted that way!!.
