Chapter 30 Jagged Pieces

  • The last thing Damon recalled was going to sleep, allowing his body to relax into the sweet embrace of the velvet sheets on his really soft bed. The air was cool, the air conditioner releasing a sound not too quiet nor too loud, but enough to give him a faux sense of company.
  • He let himself sleep deeply, the familiar darkness serving as the only form of comfort in that unreal state.
  • When his eyes snapped open, he was expecting to find himself in his bed. However, he was standing barefoot in an endless forest. The trees were pitch black, their branches clawing at the night sky like the hands of a skeleton. He glanced down at his feet to find the fog slithering between his legs. He was alone—at least, that’s what he thought.
