Chapter 6 Not Eric’s Work

  • Su Wan watched the talking Lin Yayu with a hint of mockery in her eyes.
  • She remembered that it was the latter who had mentioned that she should try it on. A tomboyish girl like Su Wan simply didn’t know how to appreciate high-end evening gowns.
  • That day, Lin Yayu had told her secretly that Feng Shihan loved sexy women and that she would be the most beautiful woman in the world if she wore this evening gown.
  • Being the silly lady that she was, Su Wan believed her.
  • The coffee was something Lin Yayu had brought, and the spill was also because Lin Yayu had bumped into her from behind. Su Wan fell down and the collar was torn when it got caught on a steel wire.
  • This woman… was always thinking about framing others.
  • She had approached Su Wan as a caring elder sister and advised her on many things. That sweet, obedient girl, Su Wan, was indeed an introvert, but not someone to court disaster like that. It was Lin Yayu’s malicious counsel that had set her on this path of no return, eventually turning her into a vulgar character no different from those cheap ladies on the streets.
  • Step by step, Su Wan became the target of everyone’s hate in the Feng Family—everyone apart from Grandma Feng.
  • The real Su Wan would never dare to say that it was Lin Yayu who had urged her to try out this gown. She would even feel guilty for dragging her down.
  • Feng Shihan gazed at the silent girl with deep, furious eyes.
  • “Su Wan, do you admit this matter is your fault?”
  • Lin Yayu’s expression was cautious, yet there was also a bit of gloating.
  • She still wasn’t sure at this point whether it was Su Wan who had harmed her at the mourning hall.
  • She was clearly the one who had played a dirty trick, but Su Wan ended up completely fine, while she was publicly embarrassed.
  • Regardless, she wasn’t going to let her have an easy time from here on out.
  • Su Wan nodded obediently. “I was the one who tore the collar and I was also the one who spilled the coffee.”
  • Despite not being her intention, she was definitely the one who had made the mistakes.
  • Lin Yayu was delighted.
  • The next second, however, Su Wan pointed the spear at her. “But… she was the one who forced me to try the dress on.”
  • “Nonsense!” Lin Yayu’s eyes were red and misty. “President Feng, I didn’t. Don’t believe Wan’s words, she’s trying to frame me. Wan, aren’t we good friends? Why do you keep harming me time and again?”
  • “Lin Yayu, you told me that Feng Shihan likes mature, sexy women. You also said that Mrs. Smith has a great figure that even Feng Shihan can’t stop staring at her. You said she’ll be even more beautiful in this dress, that I should worry about her stealing Feng Shihan away. That was why you brought the clothes for me to try on.”
  • Su Wan spoke loudly, pouring more salt onto the wounds. “Didn’t you say Feng Shihan liked ladies with big chests?”
  • “I did not.”
  • Lin Yayu was almost in tears when she noticed Feng Shihan’s unhappy expression. She trembled all over, almost as though she was being pricked by needles. Tears flowed like a stream as she cried her guts out. “President Feng, I’ve been working for the company for so many years. How could I say such things?”
  • “Oh, you said a lot of things alright, the only thing left is for you to replace me and climb into Feng Shihan’s bed. Do you want me to replay a recording?”
  • “Su Wan, shut up!”
  • Feng Shihan’s gaze was cold and penetrative.
  • “Now, I’ll give you two a choice. Restore this evening gown to perfect condition in three days, or find me an evening gown designed by Eric.”
  • His tone was frosty.
  • “First, it was Lin Yayu who gave me the clothes, you should settle this with her.” Lan Muwei smirked disapprovingly.
  • “Director Feng, don’t blame Wan. It’s all my fault for letting her try it on after seeing that she liked it so much. Just punish me. We have no idea where Eric is right now, so how is she going to find an evening gown designed by Eric? Besides, it has to fit Mrs. Smith’s measurements.” Lin Yayu stood out to plead for her.
  • Pretending to back down was the best strategy under the present circumstances. Now, Feng Shihan wouldn’t believe her even if she could come up with a reasonable argument.
  • Of course, the president and all the other family members had never trusted her to begin with.
  • In their eyes, she was just a trouble maker, a calamity, and an embarrassment to the Feng family.
  • Lan Muwei only smirked, not intimidated at all by these words. She shot a brief glance at the evening gown Lin Yayu had brought.
  • “If Eric sees this evening gown, he’ll definitely come back from France to kill you.”
  • “What did you say? Wan, you’re clearly the one who ruined it. Just admit it, I’ll beg President Feng for leniency.”
  • She was actually trying to push the blame over! Lin Yayu was overcome by hatred.
  • “Unfortunately, I won’t beg Eric to let you off,” She said coldly.
  • “You——”
  • Lan Muwei glanced at the evening gown, but couldn’t feel that the usual familiarity from it. She knew immediately that it wasn’t Eric’s work. After a second look, she already had a plan in mind.
  • “This isn’t Eric’s design at all. Lin Yayu, not only is your brain problematic, but your eyesight is also very abnormal.”
  • “That’s impossible.” Feng Shihan finally spoke. As he saw it, she was clearly using sophistry. Not only did she make a mistake, but she was also trying to frame someone else and invert the truth.
  • “You never studied design, nor have you seen Eric’s works. How would you know all this?”
  • Lin Yayu chimed in. “Yes, Wan, do you even know what a gown designed by Eric means? There’s only one evening gown in the world like it, no other! His works are unique and singular. On what grounds do you say this isn’t Eric’s work?”
  • She had flown to France and spent half a month before Eric agreed to work on this.
  • The fees ranged in the millions and the middlemen channels had cost significantly as well. Although she never met Eric in the end, this kind of unique product couldn’t be from anyone else.
  • Feng Shihan’s expression turned even colder. “You’re saying it’s fake? You’ll have to take responsibility for this if you don’t explain this matter clearly.”
  • Lan Muwei smirked and slowly explained her observations a moment later. “Firstly, Eric would never use such small diamonds in his designs. These things are cheap and inferior in his eyes, they have no value as a collectible item. These small diamonds are also very cheap on the market. Anything below one carat has no place in a collection. Each of his designs is a valuable object for collection, so how can he use such inferior gems?”
  • “That must be because he feels smaller diamonds are more suited for this kind of evening gown. Do you think fashion design is only dependent on the value? How can a mediocre person like you understand these things?” Lin Yayu cut in.
  • Lan Muwei laughed with a spirited expression.
  • “You’re wrong. Compared to small diamonds, he actually prefers jeremejevite, a rare gem with a lovely glass-like luster. Eric loves this kind of gem the most, and he hates small diamonds the most. You can go and ask him if you don’t believe me.”
  • “Of course, if you two still don’t believe me after that, I’ll say it once more, the stitches in this evening gown are not Eric’s handiwork. He has a signature stitch he invented on his own. You can go to the exhibition hall and see if what I say is true.”
  • “Impossible!”
  • Lin Yayu staggered backward, unable to believe what she had just heard.
  • Feng Shihan remained silent with a cold expression.
  • He had also heard about that matter regarding the stitches. It’s just that he had never come into contact with Eric enough to understand the stitch-style.
  • “Su Wan, you liar! That’s impossible, don’t think the president will believe your nonsense.” Lin Yayu felt a surge of restlessness welling up in her heart.
  • “What if what I say is true?”
  • “I’ll leave the company, and the design circle,” Lin Yayu said angrily.
  • “Then, I’ll… leave the Feng family if what I say is wrong. How’s that?”
  • This term was fairly attractive, to say the least.
  • Lin Yayu’s face was flushed with joy.
  • Feng Shihan shot her a glance with narrowed eyes. “Lin Yayu, go and get Exhibition Manager Chen. He’s seen Eric before and should be able to recognize his work.”
  • Lin Yayu became much more spirited, nodding briskly as she set out to perform the assigned task.
