Chapter 1 Rebirth

  • “Lan Muwei, henceforth, I’ll make it hell for you wherever I go.”
  • “Sister, my body can no longer hold on. Please give me your heart, I beg of you.”
  • “I never would have thought you’d plagiarize the work of a master designer. Muwei, I’m really disappointed in you. You’re not worthy of being a designer for Modena…”
  • Lan Muwei’s consciousness turned fuzzy, her entire body trembling as the intense pain assaulted her four limbs. She was pressed down on the steel bed with her clothes lifted, her skinny frame and sunken skin imparting a shocking sense of fragility to her appearance.
  • It felt like her chest had been cut open by some sharp instrument—there was neither anesthetic nor warning when the sharp blade pricked through the vessels.
  • Blood soon flowed like a fountain and dyed her entire world a scarlet red.
  • ——
  • There was no telling how long she had wallowed in the agony and darkness. Lan Muwei’s breathing was labored and she was drenched in cold sweat when she suddenly opened her eyes.
  • She wasn’t dead?
  • The astonishment in her heart hadn’t yet receded when widespread pain wracked her senses. However, she found—to her great astonishment—that she wasn’t lying on that bone-chilling operation table. Instead, she was on a large, soft king-size mattress.
  • Looking downward, she found herself wearing a provocative lace nightgown with nothing else inside. Her face burned up, almost with a “poof”.
  • What was this place?
  • She didn’t dare linger in an unfamiliar place with this kind of getup, so she clambered up from the bed and staggered away.
  • Lan Muwei had just taken the first step out when she noticed a tearing pain from below. She broke into a tight frown and winced from the sudden agony, yet she couldn’t care about such things right now. She simply ran out while enduring the pain.
  • Just as the girl was about to exit, the bedroom door was flung open, and in came a man, dripping and clad in a towel. In her rush, she ran straight into his arms.
  • These arms were wide, warm, and suffused with a faint scent of mint. His chest muscles were bulging from beneath the towel, outlining the chiseled edges of his silhouette. This was a steaminess practically bursting with vitality.
  • Caught off guard, Lan Muwei looked up into a pair of extremely dark eyes. That sharp, almost-frosty stare seemed shrouded in a reservoir of gloominess. Her trembling heart almost jumped out of her chest—it was as though she had suffered a sudden electric shock.
  • Feng Shihan stared down at her with deep, cold eyes. Under the yellow light, a drop of water dripped from his chiseled face.
  • Following the momentary daze, Lan Muwei’s eyes widened in shock as she registered the man’s cold facial features.
  • F-Feng Shihan…
  • Why was he here?
  • Feng Shihan grabbed the lady’s frail arms, the flames of fury raging in his sharp eyes. “Are you satisfied now?”
  • Satisfied? What about?
  • “Infuriating grandma until she’s bedridden, driving away Anan with your schemes, and crawling into my bed by unscrupulous means… you feel pretty accomplished don’t you?”
  • “What else is an evildoer like you good for apart from harming other people? You weren’t satisfied with stirring havoc in my house, now you want to use your body to seduce the people around me. Su Wan, how much lower can you get?”
  • ….
  • Lan Muwei was puzzled. Between the physical pain and her muddled thoughts, she instinctively wanted to break away from his grasp. But who would’ve thought he would hold her even harder?
  • Feng Shihan’s body was emitting a chill that would keep people a thousand miles away in apprehension. A cruel smile hung on his lips as he gazed down at the heavily made-up face of this woman, his expression full of revulsion and disdain.
  • If it wasn’t for the elders of the family, he would’ve choked to death this lady who had schemed against and drugged him.
  • “Let me go…”
  • “Acting like you’re wronged after doing all that, don’t you feel disgusted with yourself?” Feng Shihan’s gaze went down to the revealing nightgown below. The faint traces of pink therein were a testament to the intense tempest she had experienced not long ago.
  • Lan Muwei was never afforded the time to explain before a pair of strong hands jostled her out of the bedroom. The man was extremely rough and showed no sign of going easy on the fairer sex. The movement opened up her wound, causing her face to go pale as she stumbled out of the door.
  • “Scram!”
  • “Bang!” The loud thud of the door tore through the dark night, seemingly serving as a vent for the anger that was directed at her. Feng Shihan had kicked her out of the bedroom, and that door was now a barrier between their worlds.
  • The chill from the floor cut through to the bones. Every inch of her body was crying out in pain as Lan Muwei clambered up and staggered toward the bathroom. Her eyes landed on the mirror as she made to open the tap and wash her face with cold water. “Thump!” Her heart skipped a beat and her body tensed up. This… wasn’t her?
  • Lan Muwei’s eyes widened. She touched her face incredulously, feeling as though this were a dream, but a pinch finally confirmed that it was not.
  • The bright, clean mirror was clearly reflecting her current appearance.
  • The thick makeup was starting to wear off from her exquisite, oval face. Her countenance was akin to a messy color palette, and her hair was in utter chaos—yet none of that could subtract from her young, collagenous features.
  • Lan Muwei’s shoulders trembled as she gazed at the person in the mirror.
  • “I’m still alive…” No words could describe the shock she was going through.
  • She had been reborn—and into another girl’s body, no less.
  • A nineteen-year-old girl named Su Wan.
  • Lan Muwei’s eyes froze up. Su Wan… could it be that Su Wan?
  • Lan Muwei’s mouth fell wide open as she recalled Feng Shihan, the man who looked like he had just walked out of hell.
  • Feng Shihan, boss of the Xiangjiang Feng Corporation and the youngest powerhouse of the Chinese business community.
  • And the owner of this body was his wife, who also happened to be… the greatest joke of Xiangjiang City.
  • Slut, brainless, depraved… all kinds of malicious words were used to mock her. Thanks to the paparazzi and media, Su Wan lost all her dignity and became the humiliation of the Xiangjiang City. She was described as a vile woman who was willing to sell her soul for men and riches.
  • In order to marry into the Feng family, Su Wan had approached the old madam and obtained her favor, using all means fair or foul to force the issue. Finally, she cornered the filial Feng Shihan and forced him to marry her.
  • On the day of their wedding, there was no feast, no guest, no beautiful gowns or rings. After returning from the civil administration office, Feng Shihan burned the new marriage certificate right in front of her.
  • “Su Wan, you wanted to be my wife, right? Now your wish is fulfilled!”
  • That day, he gave her the coldest of glares, wanting nothing more than to swallow her whole. Even the fearless Su Wan was frozen by that expression.
  • Sigh...
  • Having fished out these memories, Lan Muwei felt extremely uncomfortable. It was almost as though there was something stuck in her chest.
  • She had finally gained a new lease on life, yet she had drawn this kind of rotten lot.
  • Being married was nothing bad, and the husband loving someone else was still bearable. She could also endure having done the indescribable with a man who didn’t even love her.
  • But… why would she be reborn into the body of a slut like Su Wan?
