Chapter 99

• When Damien and Caitlyn got back to the apartment, Harden was clearly displeased that Damien had snuck out of the apartment to accompany his mother at the park.
• Damien thought though the insulation in this place was great, the neighbors downstairs could probably hear him. While Harden was yelling at him, Damien had wanted to immediately put his hands over his ears, but seeing his mother sitting so serenely in the wheelchair stopped him. It looked like his being there for her had made her day better. If that were the case, Damien was glad he had risked it to join his mother on this outing. If it could brighten her day any, he was happy he could do it.
• When his father grew tired of yelling, he sent him to his room. Before Damien did so, he gave his mother a kiss on the cheek. He had no idea when he did so that it would be the last he’d see her alive.
