Chapter 2 Was She Really Not the Woman?
- Peggy's face was filled with anxiety; her mother was all she had, and she could not lose her!
- The servant, however, merely scowled and said, "Ms. Joan said you are not allowed to take a step outside."
- "My mother's life is in danger! Please let me out; I beg you.”
- The servant gave her a hard kick and showed no concern. Peggy lost her balance and landed on her knee, which made her bleed.
- "My mother is sick; you all heard it; let me out," she said, her lips trembling slightly as she fixed her gaze on them.
- "Your mother hasn't passed away despite being ill for more than ten years! You are not permitted to leave this yard at all.”
- Peggy closed her eyes and slowly got up from the ground. Gritting her teeth, Peggy abruptly shoved them aside with great force and hurried out.
- The person behind me was astonished and shouted, "Don't let that little b*tch run into the front yard. Stop her now!"
- In the courtyard of the villa, William respectfully declined the dinner invitation. His eyebrows relaxed and he stated, "The Soto family's marriage contract is very clear. If Joan is expecting a kid, we will organize a wedding reception immediately."
- Morgan agreed and smiled. "When Joan returned, she was clearly much more steady than before. I believe she's already pregnant with your baby in her belly."
- "Well, thank you for your hard work."
- Joan was standing next to William when she looked up and gazed at him. His skin was white and chilly, his eyebrows were black like ink, his nose bridge was high, and even the lines on his jaw were incredibly precise!
- He was superior to everyone she had dated. She wished to be a wealthy wife in the future, and suddenly, her smile froze, her eyes flashed with coldness, and she immediately grasped William's arm!
- Why is Peggy here?
- William's gaze quickly focused on Peggy. The girl wore an average cotton white dress and looked similar to Joan.
- The events of that night flooded into his mind, and William's dark eyes narrowed coldly, staring at the girl. Her eyes were filled with the same nervousness that he had witnessed three nights earlier!
- Joan trembled as she saw William's eyes locked on Peggy. He wouldn't recognize it, would he?
- She tried to calm down and said quickly, "Peggy, you are really getting more and more rebellious now. You raced out to the bar to play last night and were locked up by our parents to think about your actions. What are you trying to do right now?"
- Joan lectured coldly as William frowned beside her.
- Going out to the bar to play?
- He was instinctively disgusted, yet he couldn't stop himself from glancing at her.
- That's him!
- Peggy glanced at him and lowered her head evasively. Her hands clenched when she noticed the man frowning as he heard the words. He had misunderstood her.
- She bit her lip and held back her shivering body: "My mother is severely ill; please let me go. If I don't rush to the hospital, she'll die!"
- "Peggy, you're using your mother as an excuse again. Our family for your mother's medical bills throughout all these years, no less!”
- Joan held William close, her voice softening: "Mr. Soto, Peggy is ignorant; please don't mind her; why don't we go in first?"
- William glanced at her before stating abruptly, "She can pay her mother a visit at the hospital first."
- Even though he was certain Joan was the one for those three nights, he couldn't help but feel a little unsure.
- Additionally, Abel remarked right away, "Yes, Peggy, take the lady to the hospital!"
- Joan's hands were squeezed firmly!
- After getting permission, Peggy stood up and ran ahead, but as she went by William's side, a light, pleasant scent appeared, drawing William's attention right away.
- The man suddenly grabbed Peggy's wrist, and her fisted hands quickly relaxed.
- The man's low, chilly voice came from above her head, unlike the gentleness of the night.
- "Raise your head."
- Joan froze, and she quickly turned to her parents for assistance.
- William's eyes went from top to bottom, and when he noticed the girl's jade white fingers wearing the Soto family patriarch's tail ring, he moved Joan's arm aside and took Peggy's hand.
- "How come the ring is with you?"
- So, was it her? His eyes were dark, dangerous, and oppressive!
- Joan quickly looked over. What was the tail ring about? Why didn't she know anything about it?
- However, at first glance, this tail ring appeared to be extremely valuable!
- Damn it, Peggy; this little b*tch didn't tell her!
- She went over quickly, held Peggy's tail ring with a hurt expression on her face, and continued staring at her. "Peggy, I have treated you well with everything since we were small. We love you like family, even though you are adopted. You have stolen from me in the past, and I give it to you. But this time, you even took the love token that William gave me! That's too much!”
- Her eyes filled with tears. She turned to face William and said, "I'm sorry, William; I didn't keep it safe." My sister took it from me when I was having a shower.”
- She purposefully revealed the traces on her body and neck that she had squeezed earlier in the day.
- William looked at Joan's earlobes and clavicle.
- The place he loved so much these three days...
- So, it's Joan.
- And that girl was nothing more than a crook who went out to have fun and stole despicably.
- With a terrified expression on his face and narrowed dark eyes, William asked, "Can you afford the price of stealing the ring?"
- Looking at the man's gloomy face. Peggy felt humiliated.
- Peggy found the courage to say, "I didn't steal it," in a stern yet gentle tone.
- "I won't admit it; it's not something I did!"
- The car sent by Abel had already arrived at the door.
- Peggy stopped explaining, ran to the door, and quickly got into the car. William's gaze subconsciously looked at where Peggy left.
- Was she really—wasn't she the woman who had been with him for the past three days?
