Chapter 2
- I flipped my eyes open, instantly jerking up to a sitting position, my head responding with a throbbing.
- I was no longer in the neighborhood where Brenda had dropped me off, leaving me with some hefty men. I was in a cell.
- I was in a prison.
- The cell beside me, separated by a thick wall, had another shewolf, which I could indicate through my supernatural scent.
- The one ahead of me had another shewolf. Literally, every cell in the prison had a shewolf. Did I do something wrong that got me arrested?
- Three guards paraded the prison, checking our cells one after the other with a stony face.
- “Hey. Please, what's happening? I think you have gotten the wrong person on whatever this is. I have never committed any crime.”
- “Shut the hell up before I rip your mouth apart with my teeth.”
- One of the guards warned me and I took it as a serious one when he snarled at me.
- I leaned against the wall, my confusion building.
- What exactly was I doing here? I saw Brenda being handed a bundle of cash, it couldn't be what I think it is, right?
- “When were you just brought in?”
- The voice from the second cell whispered and it took me inclining my supernatural hearing before I could realize she was asking me.
- “I-I think just now. How about you?”
- I asked, pressing my ear against the wall to anticipate an answer.
- “Two weeks ago. I was sold two weeks ago.”
- Sold? Oh no, I just might be right. Damn!
- “What do you mean? Sold?”
- “Yeah. Everyone here is. When I heard the Berserk Pack were looking for slaves, I just knew my pack would sell me.”
- Wait, Berserk Pack? That Pack with awful and dreadful people? And even worse, their vile and evil Alpha?
- “Berserk Pack? Is this a Berserk Pack?”
- Oh please, let me be wrong.
- “Yes, it is. We are officially slaves in the Berserk Pack.”
- “What?!”
- I exclaimed, attracting a fierce glare from the guards.
- “So, what are we going to do about this?”
- “Sweetheart, I have been here for two weeks. If I knew a solution, I would probably not be here for that long.”
- But, there should still be a way out. Berserk Pack is packed with devils. And yes, they were the Pack that attacked our Pack and caused my mother’s life.
- They are really heartless. They massacre Packs unprovoked and declare wars for absolutely no reason.
- Their Pack had the most record of wars and it was mostly the pack that started them.
- I would rather take the torture from Elena and her evil daughter than remain here.
- I immediately signaled to a guard, holding my abdomen tight.
- “Please, I need to go to the restroom.”
- “Ease yourself there.”
- The guard retorted coldly.
- Please, let this work.
- “It-it's not that. I need to be released. I think I took something bad.”
- The guard gave me a dry look and shared a glance among his fellow guards.
- Then, he walked up to me and opened the cell door, letting me out, his hand grabbing my elbow tightly.
- He led me down the hall and as he did, I gazed at every cell. They were all females except the last cell that was a male and they all looked famished and starved.
- We arrived at the restroom and he led me in, standing outside to wait for me.
- Well, let’s see how this goes.
- It is just an attempt.
- I grabbed the Water Closet lid and tiptoed towards the guard. I had seen a turning right beside the restroom, once I did what I was going to do, I would quickly take that turning.
- As I moved towards the guard and he twisted around to look behind him, I aggressively hit the lid on his head, shattering it in the process.
- While he was nursing his head and the blood dripping out of it, I darted into the corner, walking into an empty hallway.
- There was a door, a laundry room door and outside was a laundry can, white sheet dumped into it.
- I instantly jumped into it, covering myself with the sheets.
- I heard footsteps approaching and more white bed sheets were dumped on me, into it. And, someone started pushing it.
- After a few minutes of the ride, it halted to a stop. There was a silent conversation then, a beeping and the ride continued again. Another footsteps was heard and more sheets were dumped into the bucket.
- I peeked out, through a tiny space of the sheet and I saw a woman in her early thirties, gathering a blanket on a king-sized bed.
- She was still struggling with it so I used the opportunity to sneak out, finding another perfect place of hiding which was behind a drawer of the enormous, luxurious bedroom.
- When the woman was done, she wheeled the bucket out and closed the door behind her.
- I came out of hiding, giving the room a problem look and all I could do was part my lips in awe.
- It wasn't just enormous but was also heavenly. It felt like I was in heaven with the stunning interior designs.
- While still admiring the room, I heard approaching footsteps.
- “We have gone through the list with the committee members, Alpha.”
- What? Alpha? What do you mean Alpha? Like, Alpha of Berserk Pack.
- I had no time to be creative about hiding, so I quickly hid behind the curtain.
- Silly, I know.
- The door to the room pulled open and the footsteps made it into the room.
- “Don’t ever make decisions without my involvement, is that understood?”
- The Alpha’s dark voice spat. Just like I suspected, he was really vile. But, does his voice sound so familiar?
- “Yes, Alpha. I apologize.”
- “Leave.”
- Immediately the Alpha commanded, I heard receding footsteps and the door shut quietly.
- Then, it dawned on me, it was only I and the Alpha remaining in the room.
- When I looked through the shady view through the curtain, he was undressing, taking off his shirt.
- Oh, damn.
- I swallowed hard.
- Can he just leave so I can continue my escape mission? I am so close to being successful.
- As I looked away and gazed back at his view, he was staring into my direction, right at me.
- My heart skipped and my heart began to race fast.
- Wait, damn! He heard my heartbeat! Oh, how could I be so careless?
- He began to come closer, gazing at me.
- Oh, goddess, save me. Please, do this last thing for me.
- As if the goddess heard my request, a phone rang and the Alpha turned around to answer the phone.
- I casted my head, heaving a sigh of relief but suddenly, I am hauled out of my hiding place by strong arms, slammed against the wall and trapped by a well-built body.
- And, the body belonged to someone I never expected.
- Someone I thought I would never be able to see again. Someone I thought I had gotten over.
- Nicholas Weston. My first love and the man that rejected me.
- I gasped out in shock.
