• Professor Hart's POV
• I couldn't convince Scarlett to leave. She was my friend, maybe my only real friend if I were to be honest with myself. Everyone else saw me as the hard, unapproachable professor but Scarlett had been the only one who could get close to me.
• When my ex-wife left me, I was poor and struggling through my PhD program. That's when I met Scarlett. We were both students then, fighting our own battles. She had been there for me during the darkest period of my life, never judging, never asking for anything in return. It was kind of hard throwing her out because I was fucking a student.
