Chapter 1

  • “Raymond?”
  • The name barely made it past my lips but it was loud enough to make the girl on his desk stop moaning and my boyfriend of seven years turn his head. I expected that he would at least have the decency to pull away from the woman he was fucking.
  • He didn't panic, he didn't even scramble to explain why he was inside another woman. No. Raymond looked bored.
  • “Selene,” he said, pulling out of her like this was normal. “What are you doing here?”
  • I stared. My brain couldn’t catch up with what my eyes were seeing. I had walked into California University with so much happiness and joy to see my boyfriend.
  • This was not in the list.
  • “I-I transferred here. For you.” I choked out.
  • “Oh,” he said, casually reaching for a tissue. “That explains the ID badge on your neck.”
  • “You’re cheating on me,” I said, trying to calm my nerves. I was shaking so hard, I was starting to think I was still on the plane, dreaming about this. "I left Georgia Uni, I transferred here to do my PHD with you!"
  • I had wanted to be closer to him. We've been so far apart especially during my degree and I thought he would love that.
  • Raymond shrugged. “Selene, come on. Don’t be dramatic. It’s just fun. It’s not serious.”
  • A laugh bubbled up my throat. “Seven years, wow. You just put seven years on the line and fucked someone else.”
  • “And?” He rolled his eyes. “We’ve been apart. You were in another city. Things happen. Why didn’t you call before coming? People who visit me unannounced always end up seeing something they shouldn’t.”
  • The girl beside him giggled.. I didn’t even know her name, but I wanted to punch the sound out of her throat.
  • I looked at her. Then him. Then back.
  • “I uprooted my life,” I said, still laughing. I dragged a hand through my hair. I was so, so damned stupid. “For you.”
  • He stepped toward me. “You’re overreacting.”
  • “Overreacting?” I snapped. “You were inside another girl two minutes ago.”
  • “And now I’m not,” he said with a grin, as if that solved everything. “I mean, come on, Selene. We’re not married. It’s not that deep.”
  • The other girl finally spoke. “Maybe you two should talk in private-”
  • I cut her off with a laugh. “You can have him. He’s trash now. So enjoy my leftovers.”
  • “Raymond we are done “
  • "Selene!"
  • I walked out fighting the tears.
  • ****
  • I hadn't cried yet. I stumbled into the nearest bar I could find on campus. It was expensive as hell to get in but I didn't care. I had spent far too much on a jackass who threw away all we had for a whore.
  • "That bastard," I hissed, fighting the tears as I downed two shots of whiskey and slammed the glass on the counter. "Seven years. Seven freaking years.
  • A low, velvety voice slid into my ear. “He must’ve been a special kind of asshole.”
  • I didn’t turn immediately. But when I did...Damn!
  • The man leaning against the bar wasn’t just handsome. He was the kind of handsome that made your stomach turn into mush.
  • He was tall. He had sharp cheekbones and a chiseled jaw. There was a tattoo snaking up one arm, his Black shirt was rolled to the elbows, and the sleeves hugged his forearms very sexily.
  • My jaw parted and I felt my thighs get hot and press together. He looked older, at least a decade, maybe more. But God, he wore it well. How could anyone look so sexy?
  • I blinked. “Excuse me?”
  • “You look like someone just ripped your heart out, kitten,"
  • I gave a dry laugh. “Close. He just gave my seven-year relationship a back shot on his office desk.”
  • The man whistled low. “Ouch.”
  • He slid onto the stool beside me. He didn't need to ask to do so. The heat radiating off him was enough to make me ridiculously wet. Oh god, what was happening? No one had ever made me feel like this. Not even Raymond.
  • “Selene,” I said, holding out my hand like I didn’t care anymore. Because maybe I didn’t. If a hot, sexy stranger were trying to pick me up, then I might as well go with the flow. I needed someone to fuck the image of Raymond and that bitch out of my brain.
  • He took my hand and I inhaled the sparks that ran up my hands. His green eyes darkened as if he felt it too. He stroked my hands with his thumb, leaning closer.
  • “And you are?” I asked, trying to find my voice.
  • He smiled and my nipples stiffened from how bloody hot that was.
  • “Whatever you want to call me, Kitten,” He tilted his head.
  • I laughed. It was the first real sound I had made since walking in on Raymond.
  • “I would call you Sin on heels. Are you trying to flirt with me or make me run?”
  • “That depends,” he said. “Are you looking to forget someone?”
  • "I don't know, are you?"
  • He moved close and brushed his large hand over my cheek. My lips parted and his thumb traced them before slipping into my mouth. It was so wickedly hot. His eyes darkened as he watched me suck on his thumb and he let out a deep rumble in his chest.
  • “Maybe. Do you think you can make me forget, Selene?"
  • He called my name in this honey-like way that made me shudder. His eyes dropped to my shameless nipples poking through my dress.
  • "Why don't you come find out," I breathed. "Daddy,"
  • His eyes darkened. “You’ve been staring at me like you want to fuck me since I got here.”
  • I met his gaze. “And what are you waiting for?”
  • He stood, held out his hand, and just like that, I let the stranger lead me out into the night. Here's to hoping he wasn't a serial killer. He hadn't even kissed me yet. Usually, do people not kiss on a one-way mirror? He was so quiet and it was sexy as fuck to me. I tried to think of anything else aside from his hand on me during the drive to his home, and I failed. It also didn't help that he had his hand on my thigh, drawing slow circles all through the drive.
  • "You live in a penthouse?" I gasped as the elevator slid open and he led me in.
  • There were floor-to-ceiling glass windows. It looked amazing. I stood there for a second, suddenly breathless. I walked to the windows, looking at the city below us when Sin came up behind me, cupping my jaw.
  • I barely had time to breathe before he slammed his mouth against mine in a breathtaking kiss. I melted against him, feeling every inch of his muscular back pressed up against me. My entire body buzzed with need as he reached for my zip, yanking it down.
  • "If you're going to change your mind, I suggest you do it now," He rasped, pulling away. "Fuck me, you're beautiful,"
  • I pushed down my dress completely, turning to him. "I'm all yours tonight,"
  • He grinned darkly, threw me over his shoulder, and carried me off to the bedroom.
