Chapter 36
- Wyatt gently lifted Hazel and wrapped her in a warm blanket. Together, they carried her out of the cold basement. Her body felt like ice. "Do something," Wyatt panicked. Dr. Larkin immediately went into action. After two hours of careful attention, Hazel slowly woke up with a heavy head. Everything around her seemed surreal.
- "Are you okay?" Ruben's brow furrowed with concern as he studied Wyatt's expression. Tears streamed down Hazel's cheeks as she rested her head on Ruben's chest. "I was scared down there," she confessed, her voice trembling with emotion.
- Wyatt, who had been outside talking with others, heard her tearful plea and rushed inside. "Hazel," he whispered, his voice filled with guilt as he looked at her. She met his gaze with teary eyes, but instead of turning to him, she snuggled her head against Ruben's chest. "I want to go home," she said softly, her voice muffled against Ruben's shirt.
