Chapter 113
- "Where's Hazel?" he inquired, turning to her mom.
- "Oh, she's upstairs. You can go check on her," her mom replied, already occupied with her tasks. Wyatt seized the chance and climbed the stairs, drawn by his yearning for her touch. She'd become his anchor, but as he neared the door, her voice reached him, engaged in a conversation on the phone. Hazel spoke of her wolf, revealing its name and their long-standing bond. Her tone lowered to whispers, seeking guidance on what to do about Wyatt. Agreeing hums followed as if she received instructions from the other end. Unable to restrain himself, Wyatt knocked, silencing the voices within. Hazel ended the call, and as he entered, he found her by the mirror as though struggling to comply with unseen directives. She muttered his name, leaving him puzzled.
- "Hazel," he reached out to her. "Talking to someone?" Wyatt asked, his eyes scanning Hazel's face for clues. She flashed a smile. "Yeah, just chatting with a friend about medical stuff," she fibbed, hurrying to her closet to get ready. Wyatt couldn't shake the feeling that she was hiding something, especially now that she seemed more open about her wolf side. Was someone pulling her strings? But before he could dwell on it, Hazel emerged from the closet, her warm smile putting him at ease.
