Chapter 4

  • Claire glared at the big shiny glass building with amazement on her face. She'd only seen Cohen's company on Television or in magazines and newspapers but now she is standing in front of it.
  • Dreams do come true.
  • She worked up a big smile on her face and walked into the door that had the Entry sign.
  • The company was bigger on the inside than it was on the outside. People went to different places using the escalators while some decided to take the transparent elevator.
  • She worked over to the security and She was given an identification card as a pass so she would have access to the elevator.
  • She continued to smile as she was directed to the director's office which was on the 10th floor.
  • Claire spotted a tall figure in front of her as he entered the elevator after she did. The scent of his perfume could make a girl wet. His jawline was near perfect and he had a clean shave. His nose was somehow pointed and the shape of his lips was...heaven. He was like the most beautiful man Claire had seen after Elijah Cohen's pictures broke the internet. The man's sleeves were rolled up to his arms showing his manly vein. He was slim though but looked like he always book a workout session to stay fit.
  • "Hello," he said when he noticed her looking at him. "Claire is it?" He asked and removed his eyes from her identification card and Claire woke up from her daydream.
  • She adjusted the identification card on her neck. "Hello." She finally said and focus on the elevator door. She had forgotten to press the button on the floor she was heading to but seemed like he was also going to the same floor.
  • She stood still, trying not to make him listen to her breathing but he also noticed she was nervous not after he caught her staring at him.
  • The elevator made a sound and the door slid open. He got off and stopped. He turned to look at her. Claire stiffened and he waved to break her from her daydream. She finally noticed he was still there.
  • "Weren't you getting off on the 10th floor?" He asked and she realized they were already at their stop. She nodded and got off before the elevator closed.
  • She kept a pleasant expression on her face and they both strode through the hall. She kept on looking at his figure before entering the described room.
  • She stopped on her feet and was aware of a woman staring at her. She looked like someone in her early thirties. She was thin and her skin was pale beneath the makeup as if she hadn't slept well.
  • "I'm sorry, Mr. Raham but your brother called and won't be in the office today." She said to him. "Didn't you tell him you were coming?" The woman asked, staring at the paperwork in front of her and adjusting her glasses. She looked back at him and looked at Claire.
  • Raham stood with his hands in his pockets and turned to look at Claire. "You should talk to her." He looked back at the woman. "Tell Elijah I will come over to his house." And after saying that, he opened the door.
  • Elijah's brother? Claire looked at him before he left completely. No wonder he looked pretty but no one ever talked about him and nothing in the news about him.
  • "Miss Claire Hutton?" She called and Claire walked over to her. "I was the person who called you this morning and I'm sorry to say that Mr. Cohen won't be on sit today but he already left work for you to do."
  • Already? Claire asked herself.
  • She kept quiet and nodded but the woman laughed.
  • "Don't worry Miss Hutton, the work isn't much. We just need your opinion on the next project and with your sense of dressing, Mr. Cohen will like whatever you say." She said as she worked to the shelf and removed some books. She handed them to Claire one after the other.
  • Claire stared at the five large binder papers that were handed to her. So much work on her birthday and first day.
  • "I read your resume, are you related to the late Mr. Hutton? It stated that you once worked for him before his business ran down and I also noticed your surname." She said but the expression on Claire's face changed. "Oh, you don't need to answer that."
  • "Yes, he is my father and no one seemed to know anything about this Hutton heiress so please can you not tell your boss about it?"
  • She nodded. "I also read that today is your birthday and luckily, the director sent you a gift."
  • "He gives gifts to employees on their birthdays?" Claire asked as the woman handed her a wrapped medium box.
  • She sneezed.
  • And Claire offered her a tissue in her purse. She collected it to clean her nose.
  • "No, he doesn't. You are the first employee he is giving a gift to and I am also shocked." She said. "That would be your sit." She pointed at a chair near the wall. Claire walked towards the window. It does have a great view out the window.
  • She looked at the woman. "You haven't told me your name."
  • "I'm Linda, the director's secretary, and since he won't be at work today, how about we go to the mall downstairs after work and do some shopping?"
  • Claire stared down at the papers on the desk. "I don't think I can do that Linda. This doesn't seem like something I would be able to finish in a day or two."
  • "I noticed and I wish I could help. The last project manager we had was fired because she doesn't do her job well and was taking advantage of the director's kindness. She fell in love with him and I guess she misread his kindness for love too. Never fall for the director. My warning."
  • She was a talker but never talked the way this woman does.
  • "I will start to read the books now Linda," Claire said as she sat on her sit. "Thank you for the gift. I appreciate."
  • Linda stood with her arms folded. "Thank the director and remember... never fall in love with him." Her eyes remained fixed on Claire but Claire fixed her eyes on the papers as she flipped them open.
  • Claire was shocked by receiving the gift but was happy he could be nice enough to send her a gift especially knowing it was her first day.
  • He was a nice man and never would she think of falling for him even though she was aware of her little infatuation when his picture was posted on the internet for the first time.
  • "I read once on the internet that the Cohen Industry always has some of their indoor fashion show on the 9th floor and I guess that is also where the models have their rehearsals before the real show begins so may I see the room please?" Claire said and Linda nodded. She was surprised Claire picked up quickly on her first day.
  • The heiress of the late Mr. Micheal Hutton whose business went down after the bankruptcy. She wondered just what Claire would have gone through after her father's death.
  • She handed Claire a spare key.
  • "Thank you," Claire said and went out of the office.
  • When she got to the room on the 9th floor, she was shocked. It was large and have great lighting. Never had she thought she would be here and she was happy she get to meet Mrs. Cohen that day.
  • Claire walked into the room and was amazed by the settings, she looked around. The architect did a great job. She jotted some things that needed to be changed in the room. And also try to confirm the kind of concept they needed to work with this time.
  • It was during winter so it will be more covered clothing such as coats, boots, and accessories from different designers.
  • After using more than seven hours in the showroom jotting and writing, Claire checked her watch and realized she had used enough time. She stood up and stretched.
  • At four o'clock Claire returned the key to Linda. She went down to the mall to buy something to eat.
