Chapter 15 : Contemplating While Observing

  • Huo Jingran's roar made Ding Ningqiu tremble. After watching Huo Jingran go upstairs, Butler Li walked over and whispered to Ding Ningqiu, "Madam, it seems that the young master's mood is not good today. It's better for you not to provoke him anymore. The more you act, the angrier he gets, and the less he will like you."
  • Ding Ningqiu felt angry when Butler Li called her pretentious. She thought to herself, if I can't afford to provoke Huo Jingran, can't I afford to provoke you?
  • "Butler Li, what do you mean by that? Being close to my husband, how is that provoking him in your eyes? And you say I'm pretentious. Perhaps in your eyes, I, as the young mistress of the Huo family, don't exist?" Ding Ningqiu said coldly and arrogantly.
  • "I dare not, Madam," Butler Li quickly bowed.
  • "Butler Li, remember this. As long as I am still Huo Jingran's woman, you must respect me. Even if I don't treat you with respect, as the steward of the Huo family, you should still show some respect towards me," Ding Ningqiu said coldly.
  • "Yes, Madam."
  • Ding Ningqiu snorted and swayed her hips as she went upstairs.
  • Study room.
  • After hearing about Huo Jingran's assassination attempt, Butler Li was startled and quickly asked if Huo Jingran was okay.
  • "I'm fine," Huo Jingran said calmly. "Luckily, we had the bodyguard you brought in who acted in time."
  • Upon hearing Huo Jingran's words, Butler Li was surprised and asked, "I heard from Zhang Xu that he selected a female agent who is extremely skilled. He said that with her alone, she can match a whole bodyguard company."
  • "Her skills are indeed impressive. Zhang Xu wasn't lying," Huo Jingran recalled the graceful talent of the beautiful bodyguard and her ample bosom, and suddenly felt a surge of excitement.
  • "Sir, who do you think sent those thugs?" Butler Li's expression became serious again.
  • "I have no basis to speculate on who would dare to attack me in Jiangling. I can't think of anyone at the moment," Huo Jingran furrowed his brow slightly, pondering in his mind.
  • "I guess the mastermind behind that female assassin might be one of the four major families," Butler Li analyzed.
  • "Whoever it is, they will eventually reveal themselves," Huo Jingran's furrowed brow gradually relaxed. He looked at Butler Li and asked, "How is the investigation going on the matter I assigned to you?"
  • Butler Li frowned and cautiously said, "It's strange. That little boy seems to have disappeared into thin air. I couldn't find any trace of him. I checked the nearby surveillance cameras and only saw him flagging down a taxi and getting in."
  • "Since you captured the taxi on camera, couldn't you trace it through the license plate number?" Huo Jingran asked coldly.
  • "Sir, I have already checked. That taxi was a fake license plate. The police are currently investigating it," Butler Li replied.
  • Huo Jingran pondered for a moment and said to Butler Li, "Tomorrow, go to the old city area yourself and investigate all the kindergartens. Look for a little girl named Xiao Yun."
  • Lu Family.
  • When Lu Yanxi returned home, she only saw Xiao Han holding a bag of potato chips and watching cartoons, but she didn't see Xiao Ting.
  • Lately, Xiao Ting had been standing in front of his mini Hubble telescope observing outer space, but today, his figure was nowhere to be seen near the telescope.
  • Upon hearing the sound of the door opening, Xiao Han put down the potato chips in her arms and ran to the door, rushing into Lu Yanxi's embrace. She affectionately rubbed her small face against Lu Yanxi's, saying, "Mommy, you finally came back. Xiao Han missed you."
  • Lu Yanxi gently pinched Xiao Han's chubby little face with her hand and said softly, "Xiao Han, where is your brother?"
  • Xiao Han giggled and whispered to Lu Yanxi, "Mommy, let me tell you, today, Xiao Yun sister gave a thank-you card to my brother and even gave him a cake. But my brother is so stingy, he didn't even give me a piece."
  • After speaking, Xiao Han pouted.
  • With her already chubby face puffed up, she looked even cuter.
  • Lu Yanxi chuckled and asked, "That was a gift from Xiao Yun to your brother. Let your brother enjoy it alone. If you want to eat, Mommy will make it for you."
  • "Okay, okay," Xiao Han excitedly jumped up and down and said, "But Mommy, my brother didn't eat it either. He has been staring at the cake in his room and not coming out to eat dinner. I don't understand what's so fascinating about a piece of cake."
  • Xiao Han finished speaking and pouted her lips, looking sulky.
  • Lu Yanxi smiled and reached out to touch Xiao Han's little head, saying softly, "Your brother is contemplating while observing. Don't disturb him."
  • Xiao Han snorted.
  • The nanny, Aunt Liu, spoke up, "By the way, Miss, today Madam told the young master to continue attending the prestigious primary school he used to go to, but the young master adamantly refuses. He insists on going to the kindergarten in the old city area."
  • "Alright, I know," Lu Yanxi smiled slightly. As a mother, how could she not understand her son's thoughts?
  • At such a young age, he had already learned about love.
  • "Miss, if you haven't eaten yet, shall I make something for you?" Aunt Liu asked again.
  • "No need," Lu Yanxi said, "I'm not hungry. I'll go see Xiao Ting first."
  • Aunt Liu nodded and said, "Then I'll go rest."
  • Standing at the door, Xiao Han was about to push the door open when Lu Yanxi quickly picked her up and said, "Xiao Han, remember to knock on the door when you enter your brother's room."
  • Xiao Han nodded seriously.
  • "Now, knock on the door."
  • Xiao Han reached out her small hand and gently knocked on the door.
  • After a while, the door opened.
  • "Good boy, what are you doing in your room?" Lu Yanxi reached out and touched Xiao Ting's forehead.
  • "Nothing, just reading," Xiao Ting said, then turned around and sat back in his chair, picking up the book on the table and reading again.
  • Lu Yanxi put Xiao Han down and walked over, sneakily glancing at Xiao Ting, pretending to sniff the air, and then said, "It seems like there's a smell of cake in the room. It smells quite nice."
  • Xiao Ting's face turned red instantly. "No... there isn't."
  • Lu Yanxi chuckled, leaned down slightly, and looked at Xiao Ting. "Good boy, I heard that you want to continue attending the kindergarten in the old city area?"
  • Xiao Ting nodded, feeling a bit disappointed. "But Grandma doesn't agree."
  • "What if I say I agree?" Lu Yanxi asked.
  • Xiao Ting suddenly turned his head to look at Lu Yanxi, his eyes widening. He jumped up from the chair and hugged Lu Yanxi's leg, saying affectionately, "Mommy, I love you."
  • "Good boy." Lu Yanxi reached out and pinched Xiao Ting's cheek, jokingly saying, "Then take out the cake that Xiao Yun gave you and let me taste it."
