Chapter 14 : Then I'll Be the First

  • This sentence made Huo Jingran visibly stunned, a hint of confusion flashing across his cold face. "Bodyguard?"
  • Lu Yanxi's gaze fixed on him, her thin lips slightly parted. "That's right."
  • "Why should I believe you?" Huo Jingran asked coldly, still pointing his gun at Lu Yanxi.
  • "Isn't your steward from the Military Intelligence Department supposed to send elite guards to protect you? That's me," she replied.
  • Upon hearing this, Huo Jingran was already fifty percent convinced. He looked Lu Yanxi up and down.
  • The black tight leather jacket perfectly outlined the woman's exquisite figure, and her perfect proportions made him unable to resist taking a second look.
  • Finally, his gaze stopped at Lu Yanxi's chest.
  • The tight leather jacket showcased her ample bosom, and the cleavage caught his attention.
  • Lu Yanxi noticed Huo Jingran's gaze, and unlike before, she suddenly felt a sense of shyness.
  • The Huo Jingran in front of her made her feel both unfamiliar and familiar. He was the man who had violated her six years ago, and he should have been her enemy. But now, facing Huo Jingran, she didn't feel resentment or hatred. Instead, she felt nervous and unsure.
  • Lu Yanxi quickly concealed the tenderness in her eyes and returned to her usual cold and elegant demeanor.
  • She knew very well that it was still uncertain whether Huo Jingran was a friend or foe. Until she found out whether he was involved with the drug trafficking organization, she couldn't show any abnormal behavior.
  • "Mr. Huo, I hope you can respect me with your gaze," Lu Yanxi said coldly.
  • Realizing that he had been caught off guard, Huo Jingran felt a bit at a loss. There were always a bunch of women who wanted to throw themselves at him and be seen by him, but this woman in front of him was even colder than him.
  • This piqued his interest.
  • And the triangular mask on her face sparked his imagination even more.
  • Huo Jingran really wanted to reach out and take off her mask to see what she really looked like. But in the face of her powerful aura, he didn't dare to act rashly.
  • It had been a long time since he had seen such an otherworldly beauty that was meant to be admired from afar and not touched.
  • "Mr. Huo, guns are meant to be aimed at enemies, not allies," Lu Yanxi said coldly again.
  • "Are you teaching me how to do things?" Huo Jingran's gaze became even colder.
  • "You can interpret it that way," Lu Yanxi replied calmly.
  • Huo Jingran was slightly taken aback. He had rarely heard someone speak to him so defiantly.
  • His hand holding the gun tightened: "No one in the entire Jiangling city dares to speak to me like this."
  • "Then I'll be the first," Lu Yanxi said firmly.
  • Huo Jingran stared into her starry eyes and after a dozen seconds, slowly put down the gun in his hand.
  • "What's your name?" Huo Jingran asked.
  • "Lu Xiaoxi."
  • "The name is not bad, at least it's not unpleasant," Huo Jingran said casually, glancing at the four bodies on the ground.
  • Lu Yanxi's face darkened.
  • "You killed all these people. Have you ever thought that without any survivors, we won't be able to find out who sent them?" Huo Jingran furrowed his brow slightly.
  • Lu Yanxi dismissed it, retorting, "Mr. Huo, do you really think that someone who dares to attack you in Jiangling would honestly tell you who is behind it?"
  • Huo Jingran lowered his eyes, perhaps realizing that his idea was indeed naive, and decided not to continue the topic. He said to Lu Yanxi, "Drive me home."
  • The Mercedes-Benz stopped in front of the mansion, and the security guard hurriedly came over to open the back door for Huo Jingran.
  • "Young Master, you're back," the security guard greeted respectfully.
  • Huo Jingran got out of the car and saw that Lu Yanxi, who was driving, showed no intention of getting out. He walked over and looked down at her from above. "Let the security guard park the car."
  • "Since Mr. Huo is already home, I should go back," Lu Yanxi replied.
  • Huo Jingran furrowed his brow slightly, looking at the woman in the car. "Didn't you say you're my personal bodyguard?"
  • "Mr. Huo is at home, there shouldn't be any danger, right?" Lu Yanxi turned her head slightly to look at him. "I'll come early tomorrow for the trip to Sucheng. Mr. Huo, don't worry."
  • "I have forty-eight rooms in this mansion. I can..."
  • Before Huo Jingran finished speaking, the Mercedes-Benz sped away.
  • "..."
  • A flash of anger crossed Huo Jingran's eyes. In all of Jiangling, no one had ever left before he finished speaking.
  • This was a complete lack of respect.
  • Despite his anger, the thought of his attractive bodyguard's graceful figure made his anger dissipate instantly.
  • Back in the mansion, he was inevitably entangled by Ding Ningqiu.
  • He had never liked her much, and now with the presence of the beautiful female bodyguard, Huo Jingran was even less interested in Ding Ningqiu's seductive antics.
  • Ding Ningqiu deliberately went out and bought a sexy and provocative cheongsam from a department store. After putting it on and spending a lot of time in front of the mirror, she sat quietly in the living room, waiting for Huo Jingran to come back.
  • She thought that using her sexy body would win Huo Jingran's favor, even if it was just for one night. As long as she successfully conceived Huo Jingran's child, she would have a bright future. Mother and child would be highly regarded, and she would be able to rise to the top.
  • However, reality slapped her in the face.
  • When Ding Ningqiu climbed onto Huo Jingran's body like a gecko, she was ruthlessly pushed away by him, and he even patted his clothes as if they were dirty.
  • This shattered Ding Ningqiu's heart into powder.
  • She stood up abruptly, staring at Huo Jingran, and loudly questioned, "Huo Jingran, why are you treating me like this? You kept saying that you searched for me for six years, and now that I'm standing in front of you, you're disgusted with me in every way. Is this how you treat someone you once hurt?"
  • These words touched Huo Jingran's heart, and he didn't want to hurt the woman he had spent a night with. But every time he faced Ding Ningqiu, he felt an inexplicable annoyance and boredom.
  • As Ding Ningqiu continued to cry, Huo Jingran's irritation grew. He shouted, "Shut up!" and made Ding Ningqiu stop crying.
  • "Cry again and get out!"
