Chapter 7
- Lucy's POV
- It was still like a trance. I refused to believe that the father of my kids was the new Alpha who would be staying with us at the pack estate.
- What will happen when we start seeing each other every day?
- "Welcome our new Alpha," my dad, the Gamma of our pack announced. My ears were itching to hear his name.
- "Alpha Eric Bennett, the Alpha's first son who decided to venture into the military profession for eight years abroad to prepare him for the role of leading the pack. Now, he's back."
- I stared at him, standing, tall and exceedingly handsome with his charmingly scorching eyes, looking fierce in his military uniform decorated with several medals.
- I brushed off the sexy thoughts that were beginning to form inside of me, revenge was the goal. But even with this, sensations didn't go away. I felt like releasing from my core. My legs grew weak. So literally, he would be my Alpha from now on?
- I gulped down the saliva on my throat.
- I thought that Alpha Eric was far away, and it would take some time before he would reach my stance. We stood here at strategic points, lined up to welcome him to his seat at the table specially made for him. Before I realized it, he was passing by me. I grew even more conscious. My eyes were still wide and my jaw dropped.
- He gave me a curt nod and a grin. He remembered me from last night. I couldn't give him a reaction other than my current one, I was still staring wide.
- From surprise, my expression shifted to admiration. Alpha Eric was more handsome than I ever thought last night, he was tall and perfectly muscular. The dream guy of every girl. I could see all the girls present here to fix their eyes on him but I observed I'm the only one he acknowledged.
- I glanced at the floor, reflecting on this. Then I raised my face, I was nervous, it was so obvious that my mom walked slowly up to my side. She leaned, whispering into my ears. "Why do your kids look so much like him?"
- I held my breath, turning my face away. I was totally not prepared for this question. Even when it was obvious and I observed several people turning their gazes on me, I really wanted to avoid it
- I shook my head with a nervous smile. "No! You--I mean Dad said he's coming from abroad, so how will I know him?" I chuckled, feeling nervous.
- “Weren't you staying abroad as well?” She hit me with another question. This time around, I refused to say a word.
- My eyes were moving randomly. Everyone gave him a loud applause as he reached the podium where a special VIP table was kept for him. Our living room seemed almost like a hall. The seats were arranged to fit this setting. I began to clap when I realized I was the only one not clapping.
- "You don't know him, why do you keep staring at him like that?"
- "I wish he was my mate," I lied, trying my best to hide the nervousness.
- "How about Leo?" I gasped in shock, I just said what I'm not supposed to say. I didn't want my mom to know about yesterday. I'll slowly break up with Leo before anyone realizes, I didn't want it to be some sort of formal, big event.
- "I mean," I chuckled, glaring at the floor when I had no idea of the right answer to give to my mom. Immediately, a response came to me. "It's just a wish, nothing serious," I shook my head with a brief smile. My face returned to seriousness. I began to clap more now, feeling my mom's tap, it dawned on me that the applause was dying down and this is when I was clapping mine so hard.
- I turned around, biting my finger.
- "Behave well! This is a formal event. Don't let feelings come in." As soon as my mom said this, she left my side to attend to other things.
- It was time for Eric to make his formal address.
- He spoke with a loud voice.
- "I wish to greet everyone here with gladness. Good morning," he gave a curt smile. "I'm happy to return to my pack to continue my career as the Alpha which I'd be starting soon. I can't wait as well to take care of my Academy and other assets of mine. I pray you join hands with me to make my rule a success........"
- My mind trailed off here, I no longer followed what he was saying, rather my gaze was fixed on his look.
- My eyes ran from his dreamy blue eyes down to his incredible chest. The curve of his arms could be seen from his suit. His dark, wavy hair was styled to the back and the side in front in a perfect style.
- As he posed for the camera, he smiled. His perfect set of white teeth got me hooked. Everything about him is just so perfect, I didn't observe a single fault.
- I was so engrossed about Alpha Eric that I didn't notice that Diane and Leo were standing over by the other side. When my eyes met Diane, she was saying something about me to Leo, I could see the smirk on her face.
- Seeing that I caught her, she pretended as though she didn't say a word.
- After the event, she walked with Leo to see him off. Neither of them realized I was walking behind.
- "She's such an embarrassment to the family. How would she glare so wide at Alpha Eric like that? Besides, do they have any connection? I heard he's coming from abroad. How did they get to know each other."
- "He's the guy from yesterday!" Diane stopped, staring at Leo with dazed eyes.
- "I can't believe this. You mean the guy she hung out with at the club?"
- "Of course!" Leo retorted. "I guess they are beginning to see each other. She's the only one he looked and grinned at while walking past."
- “Have you observed how her kids look so much like the Alpha?” He asked further.
- "Oh, so you observed that too?" Diane snapped. She stood for a while, her left hand supported her waist. She snapped her right fingers together.
- "I'm gonna frame both of them. Just to put her in trouble."
- "You dare not try that!" I growled. The heat I'd fury was consuming as I heard this. They turned in shock. I walked briskly to them, ready to teach her a lesson.
- "How could you say this when you prompted me to cheat on Leo? Remember I caught you first and decided to follow suit."
- "Do you think I'm a coward by not reporting both of you to my dad and mom?" I poked my eyes out. They needed to see I was really angry at them.
- "Hey, it's not a cause for a quarrel!" I heard a deep, husky voice behind me. I quickly turned. Alpha Eric was behind us, his hands placed in his pocket. He walked past me, up to Diane. Leo shifted, he was scared, I could see it.
- "Mind your thoughts, you can't frame me. I'm way above your cliche. As the Gamma said, "I'm the Alpha's first son and the new Alpha of this pack. You would only be earning your free ticket out of this pack if you try it."
