Chapter 21

• The regular ticking of the monitor filled the room, casting Jasper's shadow long over the hospital bed.
• Footsteps echoed down the hallway as a nurse approached him with a folded piece of paper, whispering, "Mr. Goldland, Mrs. Goldland’s has sent a scheduled letter for you."
• Jasper perked up, and he practically snatched the paper from the nurse. But his fingertips trembled so much that it was nearly impossible to read the content. He had to steady himself and lean in closer to the light, reading each word one by one.
