• “Both of you are perfectly healthy and fertile. Congratulations!”
• Tony’s face lit up with an enthusiasm that could only be described as “over-the-top jubilant.” He threw his arms around Marissa in a bear hug that nearly knocked the wind out of her. “This is amazing, Marissa! Isn’t this just the best news ever?”
• Marissa, on the other hand, felt a mix of relief and dread wash over her. Her hopes of being the one with an issue—perhaps even just a tiny bit—had been dashed. She plastered on a smile that felt more like a grimace.
