Chapter 12 Hide And Seek

• Marissa peeked eagerly through her bedroom window as several police cars with flashing lights entered the estate. Like a child spotting an ice cream truck, her eyes widened, and a grin spread across her face.
• “They’re here. The police are here!” she muttered, bouncing up and down with glee as if she had just won the lottery. Her heart pounded rapidly, a mix of nervousness and excitement that made her seem like a karaoke contestant who just got hold of the microphone.
• She stood still for a moment, posing like a detective in a noir film, gazing out the window seriously as if she were devising an elaborate escape plan like a secret agent. But Marissa was no secret agent. No, she was just Marissa, a woman who decided that today was a good day to finally make her escape.
