• I finish up most of my work. The best thing about working at the construction quarry is that I hear all kinds of gossip by the other men, most of it nonsense. They may think only women “squawk” and “talk shit” but men do it just as much—especially here. I heard lots of conversations from talk about a cheating housewife to the fact that eggs are more expensive now at the corner store on Main Street and that that has something to do with the owner being pissed at the local government for not filling in a pot hole in front of his store.
