Chapter 6

• The afternoon went fast for both Lincoln and Sarah, as they walked around through the whole library looking everywhere, as she explains
• everything she knows about the job to her new boss, Lincoln, who listened eargerly.
• "So what made you choose this job Sarah? Lincoln suddenly asked her curiously.
• "Oh well, nothing in particular! I just needed a job and they had a vacancy and I thought it would be easy and fun since I love to read, so that
• is that!" She answers timidly looking up at him.
• "Okay and what about your other job, what was that?"
• "Oh well i took care of an elderly woman but she is moving to her family suddenly so that's why I lost that job"
• "Ok so you're also a nurse?"
• "Well, just a caretaker....not an official nurse like the ones in the hospital!" She answers shyly.
• "Hmm good to know you can take care of old people!" He mischievously said to her with a dimple but Sarah was just staring at him a
• bit intrigued.
• "What about you sir?....ehm Lincoln?" She mumbles feeling her cheeks heat up by his piercing blue eyes who seemed to look straight into her soul.
• "Me? well maybe you've heard of Maxwell industries? If not it is not a big deal, aniways that's my company and my siblings are also working there
• and my mom is a shareholder in the company together with my dad.
• The the company sells worldwide and besides that I like to do stuff for charity!" He tells her.
• "Oh okay, so what does your company do, like what products or something?"
• "Ah well that's a bit complicated because we have a lot of different departments in the company and I've made sure that I checked the needs of
• the country first before I've put my company in and then implemented that need and supply it so that's it!"
• "Wow that sounds cool! And very thoughtful if i may say because not all people would do what people need! They are more invested in
• themselves so I think you....you did good!" She compliments him, smiling and smiles back at her.
• "Okay sir this is it, only the loft is left but that is mostly used as storage....although maybe I'm future..." She mumbles thinking....
• "Show me" he says and follows her up a narrow staircase up to the loft.
• "Sorry it's a bit dusty here!" She warns him while stepping on the loft floor dusting some spider webs away.
• "Wow this is a big space! Was it always used as storage or?" Lincoln asks, looking around curiously.
• "Ehm as far as i know yes but i think it's a beautiful authentic loft and has potential, what do you think?"
• "I think we will get along quite well Sarah because I have the same I thought about seeing it! You know when i was younger i wanted to become
• an architect but my mom was against it so i didn't finish my studies for that but in my heart I've always loved you design houses and stuff so i could
• really see potential up here!"
• "Really? But....sorry maybe I'm overstepping here so please I'm sorry but why did your mother dislike that?"
• "Because she said she had other bigger plans for me, she helped me build Maxwell industries quickly after that! You know when you're young
• and don't know too much of the world you just follow what your parents say so that's what I did Sarah!"
• "Okay but don't you regret it? You're not young anymore so you can do
• what you want right? Not that I'm saying that you're old!!! Please don't get me wrong!" She mutters shyly, realizing that she just called him an old
• man!
• "It's alright Sarah!" He chuckles. " For sure I'm older than you, yes but I don't give a damn about numbers! Aniways yes you're right that i regret it
• sometimes because i loves it back then....designing is still a hobby of mine!....and mom lets me do my drawing hobby only not further than
• that....anyways If you want we can make this loft into something nice what do you think?"
• "Me? Well ehm....well we can use it as a reader's corner with a homey feeling....like it would look like.hoi read a book in a cozy living room, you
• know with a fireplace and all that or we make it into a place where children could come and study so we put computers and stuff like that!¨
• "Oh I love your ideas! But we can even do more! We can do those 2 ideas of yours but not here, the kids room we can do on the ground floor
• where we. Can keep an eye on them and the cozy living room we can do on the first floor in that corner next to the window and we can use Miss
• Flanaghan's old office to create extra space for that!" He says enthusiastically looking at Sarah.
• "That sounds fantastic! But where would we stay, I mean you're and my office??" Sarah says, looking around.
• "Well I have an idea for that too! What about if we make it up here?....I I can see it is ok from me! Making an office with a "home" feeling up here!"
• "Ow wow, I didn't think of that, but I like it! Only is it not too far away from people who have questions?" Sarah asked.
• "We just have to make the floor more accessible and put signs on the other floors for where to go! Gosh I can see it in front of me in the winter!
• People coming inside to get their favorite books with hot chocolate! Can you see it too Sarah?" He asked her with twinkling eyes and she smiled
• nodding haar head.
• "Yeah.....yeah i can! I love it! If we could really do it, that is!" She says.
• "Oh we can my dear! I have too much money and don't know what to do with it sometimes so I'd love to invest in this and let more people enjoy
• the library, together with you!"
• "Okay nice!"
• "So I'll go make pictures and draw up a plan and when I'm done i'll show you over coffee, how's that sounding?"
• "Ehm yeah that sounds great Lincoln! Sure!"
• "Okay then, I'll leave you to do your thing and I'll make the pictures okay?"
• "Okay and thanks again!"
• "It's nothing Sarah, really! See you later, bye bye!"
• "Okay bye Lincoln." She says and walks downstairs leaving Lincoln upstairs deep in thought brainstorming about the place and....to his surprise, also about Sarah!.....his cute new employee!.....
