• I was by Miranda's side at the event, greeting some attendees. Business was going well, but my mind was preoccupied with Emma. We were in a strange place where I had to balance the appearance of a relationship with Miranda while figuring out how to move forward with Emma.
• Miranda leaned in and asked how Emma and I were doing. I sighed, still feeling guilty for making everything so complicated. “Well, Miranda Emma was about to confess her feelings for me when you interrupted.”
