Chapter 40

  • Before work started at Last Words, I made a quick stop at the hairdressers to touch up my hair. Not so surprisingly, Maddie actually butchered my hair. When I walked into the hairdressers, the hairdresser asked me what had happened, and I told her it involved a boy and a lot of alcohol and she laughed hysterically. The hairdresser fixed up my hair, having to cut it even shorter that is became only slightly longer than Maddie's. Because my hair was so thick, she thinned out the ends so that it shaped my head nicely. The nape of the back of my hair was not even halfway down my neck, and she styled it so the front was slightly longer and shaped around my face. I looked good, I felt so incredibly light and I felt a little happier, especially after holding Zac all night.
  • When I woke up this morning, Zac was gone, but only recently gone, as if could still feel the warmth of his body on his side. I turned over to my phone to shut it up and there sat a large glass of juice and two tablets of Panadol. I smiled appreciatively and too the Panadol and drank the whole glass of orange juice, not realising how thirsty I truly was.
  • The smell of Zac helped me fall asleep last night, along with the warmth of his body. There was nothing that I wanted to do more than to hold him and breathe him in. The thought of his body on mine completely invaded my thoughts and I was desperate to distract myself.
