Chapter 10 Don’t You Dare Bully My Hubby!

  • Holding onto the wheelchair, Summer’s hands trembled slightly. Upon hearing Wyatt’s words, Summer only began to realize that, from the moment they had stepped into the Malcolm Mansion, there wasn’t a single maid servant who greeted them.
  • Under the moonlight, she gazed at Wyatt’s chiseled good looks and pitied him. His cousin, Winston, bullied him for being disabled and molested his wife right in front of him. When it came to his uncle and aunt, they mocked him and didn’t even bother to spare him a glance. And as for his grandpa…
  • Previously, Summer thought that Wayne doted on him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have urged Wyatt to get married. Then again, back in the Malcolm Mansion, she did notice the frosty look on Wayne’s face. Hence, she felt that Wayne probably wasn’t very fond of him, too.
  • At that, she felt her heart ache and thought, Wyatt lost his immediate family since young, and his relatives aren't kind to him… He must have felt terrible, right? Almost out of instinct, she reached out her trembling hands to touch his cold hands.
  • Feeling her sudden touch, the man’s hands quavered slightly.
  • Once Summer regained her senses, she withdrew her hands quickly as though she was scalded, but with a determined tone, she declared, “From now on, I’m your family, and I’ll stay with you.”
  • There was a surprised look on Wyatt’s refined features as he gazed at her through the black silk cloth.
  • Seeing that he didn’t reply, Summer figured that he didn’t hear her, thus reiterated in an even more determined tone, “I understand that we just got married for one day, but… I’m different from all of them. Even if you really are a bringer of bad luck, I’m not afraid of death. I will be with you until the end.”
  • Chuckling softly, he commanded, “Come here.”
  • Obeying his orders, Summer walked toward him and was pulled into his embrace. Feeling the man’s soft breath around her neck, Summer felt her heart fluttering uncontrollably. With one of his hands holding onto her waist, his other hand gently stroked her hair around her ears. “Do you really mean it? Aren’t you afraid at all?”
  • Under the bright moonlight, Summer could feel her heart racing as she was embraced by Wyatt, who was sitting on the wheelchair. With his eyes covered by the black silk cloth, she stared at his side profile and still found him dangerously attractive in many ways.
  • Feeling a flush rush up to her cheeks, Summer was bursting with joy knowing that this charming and attractive man was her official husband since yesterday. This had to be her blessing, right?
  • Showered under the silver moonlight, the woman with her blushed face looked simply attractive and adorable.
  • “Being together with me, aren’t you afraid of death?” Wyatt repeated in his husky voice.
  • Those words sounded like a familiar script from the CSI series, but somehow, from the way Wyatt had spoken it, Summer sensed the loneliness in his voice and couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. Nodding, Summer’s eyes glistened with clarity. “I’m not afraid.” Three of his fiancées had passed away, but she managed to marry him, proving that she had the devil’s luck!
  • Noticing the pure innocence in her eyes which were not contaminated by any trace of wickedness, Wyatt heaved a heavy sigh. “Silly girl.”
  • Before Summer could verify whether the phrase ‘silly girl’ was meant as a compliment or a scolding, a shadow figure stormed out from the Malcolm Mansion.
  • “Wyatt Malcolm!” shouted Winston as he strode toward them in a huff.
  • With his disheveled hair and messy clothes, Summer could see that his face was still covered with ashes, a noticeable slap mark swelling his face.
  • Giving Wyatt’s wheelchair a strong kick, Winston yelled, “I knew something was wrong with you! You’re usually meek and quiet, but all of a sudden you taunted me and egged me on to start a fight with the Ainsleys. Now that they’ve caused a scene, Grandpa has no other way but to confiscate the company which he gave me, all for the sake of our family’s reputation. F*cking blind man! You tricked me!”
  • With a smirk, Wyatt said in a frosty manner, “Winston, if you knew that I had bad intentions, why would you fall into the trap? Are you that foolish to not realize that you shouldn’t have confronted them? Perhaps you’re really a dimwit for only realizing that after you’ve gotten beaten up.”
  • With rage flowing through Winston like lava, how could he possibly put up with Wyatt’s indifferent and harsh taunting? Thus, he landed a few strong kicks on Wyatt’s wheelchair, causing the wheelchair to wobble from side to side.
  • Initially, Winston thought the wheelchair would topple over after a few kicks, but much to his surprise, a pair of little hands managed to hold on to the wheelchair in the nick of time.
  • When Summer managed to hold the wheelchair straight, she darted a death glare at Winston. “Don’t you dare bully my hubby!”
  • Startled, Winston thought he was seeing things when he saw the fury in her eyes. This chick appeared all weak just now. Even after I had pinched her bottom, she dared not utter a sound. But at this moment, she has the nerve to scold and glare at me?
  • Reaching out his hands to brush her chin lightly, Winston sneered, “What now? Are you trying to speak up for your disabled husband? Don’t you see that you can barely save yourself?” Plastering a twisted smile on his face, he continued, “Aren’t you afraid that I’ll pounce on you right in front of your husband?”
  • At first, Winston thought the woman who was harassed by him would not fight back, but clearly, he was wrong.
  • Gnashing her teeth, Summer took off her seven-centimeters-high stilettos and aimed them right at Winston’s face. “Not only have you bullied me, but you touched a raw nerve for bullying my hubby! Did you think my hubby had no family to back him up? Well, get this in your head—from now on, I will protect my hubby!”
  • Shocked, Winston saw stars when he was hit by Summer’s sudden attack. The moment he regained his senses, Summer had already run off barefooted while wheeling Wyatt with her. As he wiped his face, he smelled the scent of blood.
  • Cursing beneath his breath, Winston saw them at the other end of the garden and was about to chase them down. Just then, Christian halted him as he shouted, “Get back here! Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?!”
  • “But Dad, Wyatt tricked me!”
  • “All because you have done wrong, so it gave him a chance to trip you up!” Darting a glare at Winston, Christian scolded, “You’d better get a hold of yourself! Your grandpa is furious now! If Wyatt complains to him about this, it’ll be impossible for you to get more money out of that old man!”
  • Not taking it seriously, Winston sneered, “I reckon Grandpa isn’t very fond of Wyatt, considering he was dumped from the family and left to live on his own all this while. Now, Grandpa even arranged a country bumpkin to marry him. Isn’t it obvious that Grandpa didn’t want to give him a share of the family inheritance?”
  • With a smirk, Christian said, “If it wasn’t because I eliminated all of his three fiancées, do you think he can marry a country bumpkin now?”
  • Dumbstruck, Winston asked, “His three fiancées…”
  • “It was me.”
  • In the dark, Christian lit a cigarette and took a puff. “Don’t let your guard down. Your grandpa still dotes over him.”
  • Meanwhile, Summer continued to push Wyatt all the way. Under desperate conditions, the winding path of the garden didn’t seem as complicated after all. After a while of running for dear life, they managed to reach the roadside.
  • When she was sure that Winston didn’t come after them, she kneeled down beside the wheelchair. Panting heavily, she figured she had never felt this nervous for the longest time ever.
  • “Thank you,” said the man who was sitting on the wheelchair as he passed a bottle of mineral water to her.
  • Taking the bottle, Summer gulped down a few mouthfuls of water and felt refreshed. Wiping off the sweat from her forehead, she looked up toward him. “I think I ran too fast just now. Did I jolt you?”
  • Leaning against the wheelchair, the man chuckled. “I think I’m going to have blisters on my butt.”
  • Dumbfounded, she asked timidly, “R-Really?”
  • “Do you want to check on it?”
