Chapter 2 Preparations
- Inti’s p.o.v.
- Another year has passed and I still haven’t found someone I want to spend the rest of my life with, someone that can help me run this Pack.
- Joseph and Herold aren’t doing any better in that department and at the age of thirty I am ready to throw in the towel, to just give up.
- For the past five years we have been attacked on a regular basis and I hate that it hasn’t been without casualties on our side. We lost six good Warriors, two male Omegas during several attacks and four females that committed suicide when they were grab by our enemies.
- A year ago I gave the order to my Pack-members to pack one bag with clothes per person and a bag for their personal and valuable items. I wanted them to be ready to leave at a moment’s notice and we laid out our plan.
- If it becomes necessary, we will leave for White Mountain Pack. My mentors and Joseph’s parents have told us that we are more than welcome to live within their territory and if it had been up to April, we would have moved there after the first few attacks at the start of this war.
- The sirens go off again and I run out of my office to head to the northern border, “Be warned, two Packs have combined their forces.” Someone shouts through the mind-link and I allow Ronion to force the shift, in Wolf form I will get there faster.
- Griffin and Armon are on his heels and I know that Joseph, Herold and I will keep our eyes on our surroundings. Reporting back to the Warriors behind us and to the female Warriors that protect our Pack-house.
- “Move the second line to the borders, we will take care of anyone that gets through.” I hear the Mate of our Head Warrior say through the mind-link and my first instinct is to tell her to stand down, but then I see the battle at our border.
- No one has waited for my order, our second line of Warriors have joined the Warriors running the borders and Ronion doesn’t take a moment to take a look at the situation.
- He runs head on into the battle and the first Wolf is dead before anyone can blink their eyes, but he is already targeting the next Wolf. None of us slows down, not even when they start to team up on us.
- We team up as well and even though a Wolf manages to bite into my hind leg, Ronion doesn’t make a sound. It doesn’t even slow him down, as a matter of fact it makes him more determined to drive this force of Wolves away from our borders.
- Griffin has blood running from his side and Armon has been slashed across the face, but like Ronion, neither one of them is backing down.
- “Two broke through.” Is heard over the mind-link, but I am confident that our female Warriors will deal with them. We all keep fighting, until our attackers start to pull back and I count four dead Wolves near our border.
- The wounded move back to the second line and our Doctor and nurses move in to check on them, no one with severe injuries is the report.
- After checking the entire border, we head back to the Pack-house and on the way back we run into a nurse looking after one of our female Warriors. She has a leg wound, but her Wolf is already healing her and she assures us that she is fine.
- The two males that broke through are shredded to pieces and everyone with a strong stomach is cleaning up the mess from their deaths.
- “I think we need to make plans to move.” Joseph says from beside me and I hate to admit it, but I guess it is time to move to White Mountain Pack.
- Ten minutes after I have linked everyone that needs to be a part of this, we can start making a plan to get to White Mountain Pack safely.
- First we need a route to take to White Mountain Pack, just in case something goes wrong along the way. It will give Alpha Amarah and Alpha Theseus a place to start looking for us, but I hope it won’t be necessary and that we can get there without running into trouble.
- When I discussed this with Joseph and Herold the first time, Herold pointed out a slight problem. If we want to travel with a convoy of vehicles, we needed drivers and there our challenge began.
- There aren’t enough vehicles for everyone, so we will need a part of our Pack-members to travel in Wolf form and there is only enough room for the eldest Pack-members and the ones that can’t shift.
- Herold suggested that we could teach some of our Youngsters to drive and after talking to some of the parents, we chose the young males that would be driving the vehicles. It was fun teaching them how to drive and one of them even had a good idea.
- To make sure they wouldn’t make any stupid moves along the way, they wanted to drive with passengers and our Pack-members attacking them. Not sure who had more fun that day, even though the reason for this lesson was serious.
- “Joseph, call your parents. Tell them to expect our travel plans in about an hour and that we will bring along any females we find along the way.” I say, before I dismiss the rest.
- This was an idea from one of our female Warriors, she doesn’t believe we will be the only ones trying to get to safety. Each vehicle has at least one spot left for anyone we meet along the way, none of my Pack-members wants to leave a female out there on their own.
- Medical supplies, food, water and anything else we might need along the way gets brought to the vehicles and I look surprised when a young boy places shorts and summer dresses in the backseat.
- “For when someone needs to shift back to Human form, Alpha.” The young boy answers my unspoken question and I see he isn’t the only one to place clothes inside the vehicles.
