Chapter 38 Unlikely Companion

• The bar finally looks habitable and I exhale a breath of relief, glancing around in satisfaction at my work. It is well into the morning now and this would usually be training hours but I can see there will be an adjustment to the schedule, considering Jake is deep in conversation at the end of the bar.
• Jake and Rhett arrived at the bar over an hour ago, they immediately joined Top and since then, the three have been conversing in hushed tones at a quiet corner. I have no idea what topic they are discussing and I dearly hope it has nothing to do with me.
• I do trust Jake to keep my secret to himself, but each time any one of the group steals a glance in my direction, which they have been doing quite frequently at a regular interval, my heart plummets to the pits of my stomach and doubts begin clawing at me.
