Chapter 33 Too Close
- The sound of metal striking metal echoes through the woods as I block Jake's attack, gritting my teeth against the sharp jolt of pain that shoots up the hand that withstands most of the force.
- My hands tremble and my grip on the short blade slips slightly but I am quick to recover, however not fast enough to escape Jake's notice. Jake's scowl deepens, his eyes narrow in suspicion.
- "Quick reflexes, good time. But that won't keep you alive if you can't even hold your blade." Jake hisses, his voice cutting through the still atmosphere of the early morning.
