Chapter 10 Just Like Her
- "Beloved?" The supreme calls, his tone is tentative, almost fearful.
- In the next moment, he lifts a hand to clutch his head, a pained growl rumbles in his chest and another man swiftly supports him, helping him to his feet and taking him away.
- I blink, unsure of what was going on as a few others appear in my line of sight, peering down at me.
- "Like hell! She looks... exactly like her!" One of them exclaims in disbelief, exchanging a look with the others.
- "There's no time to be amazed, Tech. A trespasser is a trespasser, take her back to Silver Tower!" Orders another.
- "Rodger that, Tracker." The first, Tech responds.
- 'Strange names...or code names.' I think to myself,
- Complying with the orders, my hands are bound, my struggles and protests barely fazes them.
- The silver chain burns into my wrist and I grit my teeth, forcing down the whimper at the burning pain in my wrist which makes it impossible for me to struggle any further.
- A black cloth is wrapped around my eyes, blindfolding me and successfully preventing me from taking note of the path they are taking.
- The group of two men match through the forest, dragging me along and each step forward reminds me of how hopeless my situation has become.
- The sun is now high in the sky, its light pierces through the canopy of trees and reflects through the blindfold, but it offers me no warmth,
- Yet my head is held high, I will not show any weakness.
- It takes a while and it is already midday before they arrive at their destination and the blindfold is taken off my eyes just as we break out of the forest lines to an imposing, towering building that blends ancient architecture with modern design.
- The tower looms high above, exuding both elegance and menace and as the sun reflects off it in a silvery gleam, I can already tell why it is called the Silver Tower.
- My eyes scan my surroundings as I'm led towards the tower. Everything is strange and unfamiliar, I am not certain if we are still in Everdale.
- A group of guards patrol the perimeter, their gazes are sharp and never linger on one spot for too long. My heart sinks even further to note how tight the security is in this place.
- The Lycans who have captured me, Tech and Tracker, take me straight into the tower. Inside, the atmosphere is still cold, even colder than it was outside.
- The walls are adorned with tapestries and relics that whisper of power and legacy but I do not have enough time to really look at them as I am pulled to the elevator.
- Tracker shoves me into the elevator and they all file in after me, the elevator doors going closed.
- My heart is tight with terror as I have no idea where we are headed or what fate awaits me.
- The elevator soon comes to a stop once again, and I am led down a hallway into a large hall that is something akin to a boardroom but with more ancient decor.
- Standing in the boardroom, there is just one person, and I breathe a sigh of relief to find it is not the masked Alpha Supreme, but the other Lycan who escorted the Alpha Supreme away a few hours earlier.
- His clothing was different, instead of the black gym pants and sweats, he now has a finely tailored suit on, his hair neatly styled and he sits at the head of the long table, gesturing for me to be brought over.
- Tracker pulls me along and shoves me into a seat at the table. I flash him a glare and he rolls his eyes but moves a few steps away to stand behind with his arms crossed.
- Tech had suspiciously disappeared from the hall.
- "Good morning... again." The other Lycan I was yet to put a name to greets me, his tone is warm but I can tell he is not one to be trifled with.
- I do not respond, my brows furrow in displeasure and a harsh glare is in my eyes.
- "My name is Cedric Corduroy, Beta warrior of Royal Fang Pack, but around here, I'm called 'Top',." He introduces.
- Cedric Corduroy... the name strikes me as familiar but I cannot place where I have heard it.
- "Top, Tracker, Tech...a bit unfair to the other alphabets, no?" I ask, immediately regretting it when Top raised a brow.
- "You have been quite observant." He notes, his gaze narrowed slightly.
- "Well... Tracker over there is Rhett, and Tech whom you met earlier is Milo. But here in the Silver Tower, we run with codenames." Top explained.
- "Is the point of codenames not to keep your identities hidden? You just told me everything." I point out with a raised brow.
- "Oh, you'll be staying...a while." Top replies with a casual shrug.
- His words though casual, holds a clear meaning, they do not plan on letting me go...not alive at least.
- "Care to share why you trespassed on our lands?" Top asks me, his tone now serious.
- "I don't owe you an explanation." I reply blankly, my tone calm despite the fear churning within me.
- Top quirks a brow at that, he tilts his head slightly, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips whilst Tracker scoffs audibly.
- "No, you don't. But you do owe me respect... seeing as your life is in my hands." Top says, his tone has shifted now and the weight of his dominance bears down on me like a physical force.
- I grit my teeth against the urge to drop to my knees.
- "What do you want from me?" I demand through gritted teeth.
- Top leans forwards, scanning my face with unnerving precision. For a long moment, he does not respond, his expression unreadable.
- And when he finally speaks, he says the same words Tech had said before in the woods.
- "You look just like her..." Top murmurs in barely concealed awe.
- "Like who?" I ask, my voice wavering despite my best efforts to sound confident.
- Top leans back again, his expression softening.
- "The deceased Luna Supreme... Supreme's mate." Top reveals.
