Chapter 37 A Visit
- Mornings in the Red Ember Bar are still and calm. With the night rush just past and the final wave of patrons all gone by the early hours of the morning, the first rays of sunlight meet a much welcome silence and of course, a large mess to be cleaned up.
- From the counter to the tables, the floors, dozens of glasses and carelessly disposed bottles, a few broken bottles here or there, it is quite the aftermath of chaos, as it always is after a night long drinking spree of dozens of uncouth shifters, and even a few bar fights here or there.
- My gaze scans the expanse of the bar, estimating how long it will take me to clean up the mess. Considering I ran off and left Steph and Matty alone on such a busy night, they are both too exhausted to be of any use this morning and are fast asleep in the break room. I feel too guilty to wake them up and ask for help and so it seems the cleanup is up to me alone.
