Chapter 17

• When Maxwell had called her in the middle of the night she had been livid. It had been her for her to go to sleep lately. The attack by Stella still fresh in her mind. So when she had finally drifted off and the next thing she knew was her ringtone piercing her ears, the anger that she was meant to feel a few days back hit her with full force.
• She almost tossed her phone. She didn’t look at the caller. She accepted the call and she began to berate whoever called. She hadn’t slept, she was paranoid and she was cranky. She didn’t even care that Nathan could hear her. If he did this was his fault too.
• When she had gotten all that out of her system she sat on the bed suddenly weak. Her breath came out in pants and regret settled. She wouldn’t look at the caller now. What if it was a friend? What of it was an emergency? What if it was concerning her mum?
