Chapter 6 Two Conditions
- “Shut up. Stop crying,” a frigid voice echoed, akin to a merciless streak of lightning tearing through the night sky. The bone-chilling coldness that seeped from the voice left Samantha immediately silenced in fright.
- “Y-You almost ran me over with your car, and you're still being so mean about it,” she whispered, eyes filled with tears as she gazed pitifully at Cassius.
- Glancing at her, Cassius reached into his pocket, pulled out a checkbook, and quickly penned down a series of numbers. Then, he tossed the check into her arms.
- “This is for your medical bills. Go to the hospital yourself.” His voice was devoid of any hint of emotion.
- “Five million is quite generous,” she commented dismissively, “but I don't need this.” With that, she tore the check straight into two, her teary eyes meeting with Cassius' dark pupils.
- “Are you saying it's not enough, or are you trying to con me?” He looked at her contemptuously, automatically labeling her as a woman driven by greed and power.
- Samantha pushed herself off the ground and slowly walked forward, standing directly in front of him. “I don't want your money. As long as you agree to my two conditions, I'll foot the medical expenses myself.”
- “Oh? You have the cheek to negotiate your terms with me? Interesting. What do you want?”
- His eyes, dark as obsidian, were fixed steadily on the woman before him. Despite her red, swollen eyes being red and her petite face smeared with dust, there was a stubbornness in her eyes. It was intriguing yet pitiful.
- The woman sniffed.
- “The first condition is that you take me out for drinks.”
- “Drinks?” Her request caught Cassius off guard. He had thought this woman would take advantage of the situation and demand a hefty medical fee from him. Surprisingly, all she wanted was a drink.
- “Yes, that's the first condition.” Samantha nodded. Her current emotional state certainly called for a drink, a way to numb the pain in her heart with the warmth of alcohol.
- “What's the second?”
- The woman wiped away the tear stains from the corner of her eyes, taking a couple of steps closer to him. Now, her delicate figure was just a fraction of a millimeter away as her watery, clear eyes were desperately fixed on him.
- “Throwing yourself at me so quickly?” Cassius stood upright, unmoving. His eagle-like eyes looked down disdainfully at Samantha, who now stood right before him.
- Ignoring the mockery and disdain in the man's eyes, she suddenly stood on her tiptoes before her rosy lips moved closer to his ear, whispering something to him.
- In an instant, a subtle feminine scent wafted toward him, carried by the cool night breeze. The fragrance was faint yet elegant, with a lingering sweetness. Reminiscent of a flower that only bloomed at night, it seeped into his heart and lungs.
- “This is my second condition,” Samantha declared, mustering up the courage as she faced his piercing gaze.
- “What makes you think I'd agree to your terms?” He couldn't comprehend who had given this woman the nerve to make demands of him.
- “You nearly caused an accident. If you don't agree to my demands, then I'll... I'll cry right here and right now.” Tears once again welling up in her puffy eyes, Samantha opened her mouth and started sobbing.
- The sharp cries echoed once more, causing Cassius' brows to crease instantly. “Enough. Stop crying.”
- “I'll stop after you agree to my terms,” the woman insisted, her lips forming a pout.
- With a mischievous glint in his eyes, Cassius studied her intently for a moment. A faint smile played at the corners of his lips, sketching a perfect curve. “Interesting.”
- Regardless of the woman's intentions, she had successfully captured his attention.
- “Cheers!” Samantha chuckled, raising her glass inside a luxurious VIP room at Nightscape. A silly smile tinged with a hint of drunkenness, danced on her lips as she looked at Cassius with hazy eyes.
- Cassius hadn't even taken a sip from his glass yet, but Samantha downed hers in a series of hearty gulps.
- “Are you an alcoholic, woman?” Cassius stared at the woman in disbelief, his brows furrowed.
- Samantha was truly there just to drink. From the moment she stepped into the bar's private room, she was like a madwoman, relentlessly pouring drinks for herself.
- At one point, she completely overlooked the presence of the extraordinarily handsome man, sitting right next to her.
- Being ignored for the first time, and by a woman no less, was truly an unpleasant experience for Cassius who had always been held in high regard.
- “Hmm... You don't seem to drink at all. Don't you like alcohol? Come on, let's have a toast!”
- Leaning slightly, Samantha lifted her glass, pouring the drink into her mouth with determination. “It's all gone. I need more.”
