Chapter 3 Such Tactics

  • “No, no, that's not it. I'm not looking for a man. I have indeed seen you in my dreams.”
  • Swallowing her nervous saliva, Samantha met the man's gaze with determination. His eyes were icy and piercing, so cold, so deep. Looking into them could instill an immense sense of fear.
  • Her earnest and confident demeanor, coupled with the trace of clear innocence in her eyes, sparked a touch of curiosity in Cassius.
  • “What were we doing in your dream?” Cassius asked with a charmingly wicked smile.
  • “Um...”
  • Upon hearing those words, a blush fiercely overtook Samantha's fair complexion, painting her face a fiery red. In her dreams, they were involved in that sort of intimate act. She was too embarrassed to even utter a word about it.
  • “N-Nothing?”
  • Samantha hastily averted her gaze, shyly lowering her head. Oh, Samantha... You're such a colossal fool!
  • She was kicking herself internally, wishing she could just curl up in a corner. I feel as though I'm on a fast track to making a fool out of myself here! Is my life not miserable enough as it is?
  • Observing her shy, evasive gaze, Cassius playfully teased her by asking, “Judging by your expression, could it be that we were doing something intimate in your dream?”
  • “Ah, no! You've misunderstood!”
  • Startled, Samantha quickly lifted her head, her hands shaking vehemently as she strenuously denied Cassius' speculation.
  • “Your face is quite flushed. It seems I've hit the jackpot here.”
  • When Cassius spoke, a hint of a smile played at the corners of his mouth. His smile was undeniably handsome, but Samantha couldn't sense any warmth in it. Instead, his smile exuded a piercing chill that left her feeling cold.
  • Samantha covered her face with her hands. D*mn, my face feels incredibly hot! It's so hot that I could probably fry an egg on it!
  • “Uh... I'm sorry, sir. I made a mistake. I'll be leaving now.”
  • The nervous and shy Samantha couldn't bear to stay by Cassius' side for even a minute longer. His eyes, sharp as an eagle's, seemed as if they could see right through her, which was utterly terrifying.
  • “Sorry to bother you.” Samantha apologized hastily, ready to take off in a run. But sometimes, life just loved playing absurd jokes on her.
  • “Ah!”
  • Samantha was overwhelmed by shyness and anxiety. Just as she was about to throw caution to the wind and make a run for it, she unknowingly stepped on a puddle. In an instant, Samantha lost her balance.
  • When faced with danger, people would instinctively grab onto anything within their reach. As it so happened, Samantha, in her moment of peril, unluckily managed to get a hold of Cassius' underwear. In a rather unladylike manner, she ended up pulling it down.
  • “Ah!” Thud!
  • Before Samantha hit the ground, she saw something she wasn't supposed to see. “Ah... My goodness!” She quickly closed her eyes in shock, her heart nearly leaping out of her chest in fright.
  • Cassius, remarkably composed, picked up a white towel and wrapped it around his lower body. He cast his gaze downward, looking at the woman who had fallen at his feet. He nudged Samantha's arm with his foot.
  • “You must've racked your brain to come up with such a captivating technique to attract men,” he said.
  • Samantha squinted her eyes nervously, peering through the slits of her eyelashes. She cautiously caught sight of Cassius, who was wrapped in a white towel. Only then did she gradually open her eyes fully, using one hand to prop herself up from the wet floor.
  • D*mn, this situation is just unbearably awkward! It's so freaking embarrassing!
  • “I wasn't trying to attract you. It's just that the floor was too slippery and I accidentally slipped.” Samantha swallowed all the pain and embarrassment as she stubbornly argued with Cassius.
  • This man sure is a strange one! Just because he's somewhat good-looking, he thinks he's irresistible! He thinks that all the women in the world revolve around him! Such vanity!
  • “The ground was too slippery?”
  • Samantha nodded. “Of course! It was just too slippery!”
  • Cassius' devilishly captivating eyes narrowed slightly, and without warning, he reached out and seized Samantha's wrist. With a slight tug, Samantha crashed directly into his embrace.
  • Badump! Badump! Badump!
  • Upon closer inspection of this man's face, which could only be described as flawlessly chiseled, Samantha realized that he was even more handsome than when he appeared in her dreams.
  • That sharply defined, strikingly handsome face, had a profound impact on her heart and mind.
  • A distinct masculine scent, mingled with the moisture in the air, wafted into Samantha's nose. Her already flushed face turned a deeper shade of red, glowing with a newfound transparency.
  • “Let go of me! What do you think you're doing?”
  • There was a clear sense of caution in Samantha's anxious gaze.
  • “Lady, don't assume that such tactics can seduce me, nor should you entertain the idea of getting to know me, let alone getting into my bed.”
  • Cassius' words were delivered with chilling precision, each syllable piercing through the bone, leaving Samantha in stunned silence. Her mouth opened and closed continuously, but she was unable to utter a single word. Inside, she was consumed by anxiety.
  • “A woman like you truly doesn't deserve to stand on the same stage as me.”
