Chapter 4
- Hi, Dad! I’m going to have dinner with Fel, and a couple of friends will be back soon.
- Love you!” She said softly," After forty-five minutes of riding, they arrived at a restaurant she was very familiar with! This was her favorite restaurant, but she hadn’t visited in a while! She usually comes here with her family and Steven.
- It turns out the restaurant is owned by the Hutchison family. The restaurant was a place where the rich dined; the restaurant was decorated lavishly to everyone's needs and preferences.
- At the entrance of the restaurant, having noticed Aiden and Elliot, the workers bowed to his presence.
- Wow, he was a demigod; money indeed has a lot of power! She said in her mind, having closed arms with Fel, they followed the gentlemen.
- She heard a familiar voice call out to the waitress; she turned in the direction of the voice to see none other than her boyfriend.
- Steven, kissing an unfamiliar lady passionately after calling out to the waitress, was stunned to move.
- Fel was whispering to Edge to match her pace but found her friend glued to one spot. Turning to look in the direction of her gaze, she saw her uncle kissing a familiar figure—none other than Regina! She stood up leaning on Steven’s arms, and Regina wrapped her arms around him.
- They looked like they couldn’t wait to tell the world that they were in love. “Regina! That bitch, Fel wanted to approach them, but she was held back by Emily’s firm grip. Steven and Regina met their gaze; worried about me.
- He’s your family; I wouldn’t want to cause havoc between you and him. Let’s go! “He’s family, but an asshole!” She said gritting her teeth.
- Being dragged by Emily, she was feeling very bad for not protecting her best friend from her uncle.
- Walking towards the direction the men went, they met the intense gaze of the men who had witnessed the incident.
- With her tears threatening to fall, she excused herself, leaving the rest dumbfounded. She knows better than anyone that Emily is going to bawl her eyes out in the bathroom. She tried to follow her to the bathroom; Elliot grabbed her wrist before she could.
- Elliot told her to let her be; she would come around. She broke into tears and wailed uncontrollably.
- She said, “I told her not to get involved with my uncle, but she wouldn’t listen. He has never loved or taken any relationship seriously because of that bitch.
- I should have been more clear about things before, but I wasn’t, and now my best friend is hurting! She was so deeply in love with him that when I told her about Regina years back, she told me her relationship with Steven was good and I shouldn’t worry about her; I couldn't find her voice. She couldn’t talk; she sobbed heartily.
- Elliot, on the other hand, didn’t know how to comfort her. Aiden, on the other hand, was secretly rejoicing and was a bit sad to see the ladies in this state, especially Emily.
- He had intentionally called the restaurant to confirm Steven was there before he brought them to the restaurant. Having seen Steven with countless ladies before this new lady he was with today, he seems to be serious about this one.
- He had planned everything to make Emily know the kind of man she was madly in love with. He had liked her ever since they were kids, but the latter didn’t recognize him.
- Now he had a chance with her. Emily broke his thoughts as she walked into the private room; with swollen eyes, she sat beside Fel and hugged her, assuring her it was not her fault she was in the mess.
- “We are here to eat; why are they crying like they are at a funeral? He thought. Hmmm… clearing his throat, I’m starving.
- Can we get to the reason we are here? Crying won’t make you less hungry.” He said that with coldness and aura, his face was void of emotions.
- Being brought back to reality that they were not alone, they stopped hugging and focused on what was at hand.
- They dined with his piercing gaze; he watched them while they ate, having a loose appetite. The gaze made them force the food down their throats.
- They part ways; since then, Emily has been depressed. Steven never called to explain himself, and that day was the last time she saw him; she never went to the Jackson mansion.
- She had loved him for twelve years and had been his girlfriend for five whole years; did she mean nothing at all to him? “Emily, you are so pathetic! Roused by car honks and Mr. Bash’s voice, she realized she was at the airport.
- She got out of the car as Mr. Bash unloaded her luggage, thanking him for bringing her to the airport.
- She waved goodbye and left. “Come to think of it, I haven’t lived my life wholly! I was just all about Steven, even when he changed drastically towards me.
- I had the illusion that he was under stress because of the pressure of managing the Peter Corporation at a young age… Hmmm, Emily, the red flags were there, but you ignored them because you were in love. Love indeed makes you brainless and foolish.
- He would constantly run into the bathrooms to receive calls, or he would be busy on his phone while we were having a conversation, or he would be pushing me away. Anytime I went to his house, he told me to go home; he wanted some space.
- All this, and you ignored it! Wow! From today onwards I’m going to put myself first in any relationship.
- I’m going to make myself proud and that of the people who love me! Assuring herself not to cry again but rather to be strong was enough to keep going; she deserved better! She told herself.
- After Emily left, fel she said goodbye to the family of three and went home. She headed straight to her room, exchanging pleasantries with her parents. Her mom wanted to comfort her but fel wanted to be left alone.
- She collapsed onto her bed and looked up at the ceiling to see the star stickers she and Emily had stuck to her roof. They had been doing this since junior high, as Emily was obsessed with decoration. She would buy things to decorate her room. She used to decorate Ian’s room, but he hated girly stuff when he was growing up.
