- I hated saying goodbye to my parents just then, but I could see how tired they were. Still, no one brought up the elephant in the room. Not yet. They were here for me. That was enough for now.
- “Alright, honey. Give us five minutes,” Mum said to Dad. “I need to talk to Emily alone.”
- “Sure,” he replied, giving her a look. “Don’t be too hard on her—and don’t take all night.” He gave a teasing smile and stepped out.
