Chapter 3

• After a long day at Watson Group, Emily collapsed on her bed, just as her eyes fluttered shut her phone buzzed. Felicia .“You wouldn’t believe who showed up!” She said excitedly.
• “I’m really tired now, get to the point, Fel,” she responded lazily.
• We are in front of your house. Come out! Sighing she dragged herself outside; the guards tried to stop her, but she waved them off. She got there to see someone she never expected—Elliot, their former schoolmate.
• Elliot had pursued her in the past; she was so head over heels in love with Steven despite the warnings from her family and brother, especially her brother, telling her Steven was a womanizer who didn’t respect and take women seriously; all of that warning fell on deaf ears. She rejected him on the spot.
• That was the last time the latter was ever seen in school or Maywin. He looked so handsome and good; she was so happy that she ran hurriedly into his arms.
• “Someone seems to miss me, but she rejected me when I pursued her before, hehe… Oh, c'mon why are you bringing up the past? I hope the guy you rejected me for is treating you well, though.

• After what seemed like forever, Aiden, who came with Elliot, tapped him on the shoulder to introduce him, as Emily hadn’t noticed him.
• “Right, this is Aiden Hutchison—my cousin and best friend. “Oh, nice to meet you”, Fel chimed in, sharing a handshake, followed by Emily.
• “Wait, this name sounds familiar. Wait, Elliot, are you related to the Hutchison family? Aiden Hutchison the aloof and scary CEO?”, Emily’s face burned. ‘I… I didn’t mean that!’Felicia snorted, clearly enjoying the show. ‘Oh, you did.’

• Why did you leave Maywin back then? Rumor has it that your family moved to Kansas City due to bankruptcy, fel asked.
• “I can physically say it was a lie. Well, my dad wanted to start a new business branch under his name; we happened to move to Kansas City in the shortest possible time frame, and that was why I told you how I felt before leaving, so when you rejected me, I moved on quickly.
• Were you fifteen? Gosh, we were so young! Oh, that was it”! “Then you must be staying for a short period in Maywin, I guess!” She added.
• Aiden, feeling left out in the conversation, cleared his throat! Yeah, Aiden is the current heir to the Hutchison empire, as you know, he and I have a project to work on. I will be in town for a while.”
• Aiden cursed his cousin in his mind, as it was his idea to come see Emily. It had been a long time since he had seen her, and she would probably have forgotten about him.
• True to his words, she has indeed forgotten about him. Breaking the silence, Aiden said, Ladies, for taking care of and making friends with this loser here and meeting you for the first time, I want to treat you to a nice dinner, and I’m not taking no for an answer! He said that sounded like a firm request, leaving no room for negotiation.

• She reluctantly hopped in the car; Felicia followed suit, as she was terrified of the latter’s piercing gaze.
