Chapter 5 We Will Decide Later

  • With his eyes growing dark, he fixed his attention on the petite woman tucked into his bed. He took a deep breath, moved to the other side of the bed, picked up his coat, and then took another deep breath.
  • Just then, a knock came from the door. "Come in" he uttered.
  • Opening the door, a man with gray hair stepped inside, his eyes subconsciously falling on the woman lying on the bed. Closing the door behind him, he bowed his head. "Long live, King of the North."
  • Eyeing the woman on the bed, Jeco declared, "We are leaving first thing tomorrow morning."
  • The woman stirred in her sleep and he frowned his face before clicking his tongue and facing the man who had just stepped in.
  • He continued, sounding a little authoritative, "Make sure to deliver the news to everyone."
  • The Man, Frost Gallagher, the beta of the Blue Rain Pack had his forehead filled with worried lines.
  • Although the matter of the Alpha King was something he shouldn't deeply involved himself with but this isn't just the matter of the King anymore, it's now involves the whole Pack.
  • "Is there anything else Frost?" Jeco asked, casting a cold-eyed glance at his beta.
  • "Your Majesty, should we prepare going with Her Highness too?"
  • 'Her Highness?'
  • At the mention of that word, Jeco felt his blood boiling and an uncontrollable urge to slam his fist against the wall. But then his eyes fell snidely on his beta, and he gave a small laugh.
  • "So you think I should bring home an omega as the Luna of the Pack?" With a laugh as dry as beach sand, Jeco laughed once more. "You want me to marry an Omega?"
  • Frost managed to say, "This is the will of the Moon Goddess, Your Highness," in spite of the daggers Jeco was hurling at him with his eyes. "If your mother finds out about this, she will not be very happy."
  • Just by virtue of his skills and brutality, Jeco had become the King of the North Pack. Unforgiving, he would stop at nothing to achieve his goals. And what he doesn't want, he doesn't want.
  • He was only here for fun not because he was here to find his mate. He had no intention of taking on any more burdens after overcoming several to get to his current position.
  • However, the Moon Goddess had decided to not let things go his way.
  • "You want someone weak and latent to be the Luna of the North Pack, Frost? There are moments when your words let me down."
  • Although there was sense in what Jeco was insinuating, Frost still felt that Jeco shouldn't be hasty in making his decisions.
  • As someone who had been told since birth that he would spend the rest of his life as a lonely king, shouldn't he be happy that he found his mate?"
  • "I will leave you to rest then." Frost quickly brushed his thoughts aside and said, "Elder Dumbbell said he has something to say to you. He's waiting for you."
  • Frost had accompanied Jeco from the time the latter assumed the throne. Frost was meant to serve someone else, so their relationship was not particularly warm.
  • However, as fate has another plan for him, he became the beta of the North Pack, serving the person he hated the most.
  • Following Frost's departure, Jeco headed to see Elder Dumbbell. Elder Dumbbell met him with a bow of respect as he stepped into the darkened chamber, his weathered face showing no signs of worry.
  • With a steady voice, Elder Dumbbell proclaimed, "Long Live the King."
  • Jeco, his mood sour and his patience thin, greeted the elder with a cold stare. He wasted no time in cutting to the chase, demanding to know the reason for this summons.
  • Unmoved by Jeco's cold attitude, Elder Dumbbell said that Jeco had to decide what was best for the pack. "Your actions should benefit the pack, not just you, your highness."
  • Jeco scoffed, his laughter devoid of warmth. "You should worry about your own age and leave me to handle my affairs," he retorted sharply.
  • But Elder Dumbbell remained steadfast, his gaze piercing yet calm. "I know you are frustrated, Your Highness, but you have to think about what is best for everyone. Your father understood this well. He made decisions not just for himself, but for the entire pack. It is what kept us strong."
  • This comparison to his father ignited a silent anger within Jeco, his jaw clenching as he fought to control his temper.
  • But as Elder Dumbbell continued to extol the virtues of selflessness and sacrifice, Jeco could contain his frustration no longer.
  • "Do not dare compare me to him," Jeco growled, his voice low and dangerous. "You have no idea what I am capable of."
  • Elder Dumbbell did not let Jeco's outburst phase him. "I have served your family for many years, Your Highness. I have witnessed both good and terrible moments. I only wish to guide you down the path that will ensure the pack's prosperity."
  • With those words, Jeco abruptly rose from his seat and stormed out of the chamber, leaving Elder Dumbbell to ponder.
  • Jeco's mind boiled with bitterness and rage as he withdrew to his room. But as soon as he stepped inside, he realized with a sinking feeling that the girl who had been sleeping on his bed had vanished.
  • With furrowed brows, his eyes flitted around and finally landed on the window side. The girl sat there, her lips chapped and her gaze lifeless.
  • "Your audacity amazes me."
  • The girl turned to face him as his icy voice broke through the night's stillness.
  • Eumerica said, "I am not going to stay here," cutting right to the chase. She straightened her now-tidy dress and got up from the window side. "We are bound by the will of the Moon Goddess; we must submit to her."
  • With his anger building to a boiling point, Jeco's eyes became darker and colder. "I heard you lost your memories so I must guess you haven't heard of me, have you?"
  • Even Jeco knew how he was respected and feared in all packs, he knew how everyone was scared to approach him or talk back at him and sincerely, he enjoyed every single bits of it.
  • But the doll-eye girl was starting to irritate him, and the fact that she seemed carefree in front of him made his blood boil.
  • With weariness evident in her dark doll eyes, Eumerica chuckled. "Do you want me to fear you like others do? Then let me follow you back to the North Pack."
  • "Do you take me as a joke, you lowly slave? Snapping your head off your body isn't a big deal for me and I'm sure you should know that by now." His lips curled into a snarl, his brows furrowed, his face twisted into a mask of rage, and his very being exuded a menacing aura.
  • With Jeco's icy words slicing through the atmosphere, Eumerica felt her heart pound like a drum and a chill run down her spine.
  • Willing her hands to remain steady, she forced herself to meet his gaze while fighting to control the trembling in her voice.
  • Every nerve in her body begged her to run, to escape the threat that Jeco posed, but she refused to give in to the fear that poisoned her veins and ran through her body.
  • "Let me follow you first, we will decide what to do later."
  • Eumerica spoke those words confidently and without showing an
  • y signs of fear, even though her lips were quivering.
  • Jeco seems even more irritated by this.
