• I woke up with a start, blinking hard as my eyes adjusted to the light. My head throbbed, and every inch of my body ached from the hours I must have been unconscious. However, the pain was insignificant in comparison to the rage that was simmering beneath my skin.
• The first thing I saw was Jeco. With his arms crossed, he stood near the window and gazed down at me with that recognizable, venomous expression. Though I would never admit it, there was always something unreadable about him, something that made me shiver.
