Chapter 26 Not One Bit

• Maya’s hand froze as she heard Jeco’s question. Instead of responding immediately, she continued tending to his wounds, avoiding his intense gaze. His voice broke the silence once more, but this time it was lower, taunting and dangerous.
• “You claimed to have loved me for years, didn’t you?” He spoke in a way that was sharp and poisonous. “How do you know you love me?”
• Maya gulped, feeling her heart race. Her hands moved with more caution as she caressed his bandaged arms, trying to gather the courage to speak. "How do I know I love you? I... I’m not sure about that,” she began hesitantly, her voice trembling. “But I know I care about you. I want you to care for me too. I want to see you every day, and I want us to be by each other’s side.”
