Chapter 4 Rejection
- *PRESENT DAY* (THE MATING BALL)
- With strange eyes, he glared at me, his crimson eyes shifting from their normal color to black.
- He gritted his teeth and let out a low, growling moan.
- I took a step back, my body instinctively retreating as though my subconscious had triggered a defensive response to protect myself.
- It wasn't him, it wasn't him... I muttered this to myself, but I knew I would eventually fall back into this abyss.
- The face, the lips, the demeanor... Everything seemed so real that I felt my legs weakening and my heart racing with intensity.
- Just like I had the same face as Rica from this World, it must also be a coincidence that this person in front of me has an uncanny appearance with the Crown Prince back in the Kingdom.
- But is this the right time to consider my choices now that the Moon Goddess has fated us together?
- "The King of the North found his mate!"
- "A slave omega is his mate?!"
- "Will this slave be the Luna of the whole North Pack?"
- I found my hands trembling even more as I heard the silent whispers coming from the onlookers dressed in ball gowns. Their looks gave me the impression that they were about to devour me.
- "Pardon me, The King of the North! The rules of the pack were broken by this slave here."
- As I heard Princess Alia's voice, I took a step back ready to run again but something stopped me. My legs started to become really difficult to lift, though I could not quite put my finger on what was happening.
- I held the hem of the almost tattered clothes I wore, my grip tightening with intensity.
- I could only pray in my heart.
- The King of the North, as he was called, let down a deep breath as he glared at me, his crimson eyes turning normal like they never changed colors some moments earlier.
- With his glare and his unfocused attention on Princess Alia, I felt the urge to say some words.
- But before I could say some words, he turned around, his gaze landing on Princess Alia who looked nervous with a bead of sweat forming on her forehead.
- "Long live, the King of the North" She bowed her head, blinking her eyes innocently. "I'm sorry for the disturbance but I assure you that she will be punished for her rude actions today."
- At that moment, I saw the King of the North, turn his head, grab my hand, and pull me forward. Princess Alia caught my attention, her eyes practically brimming with disdain.
- I felt a shiver run down my spine, a tingling sensation that spread like wildfire
- I could see her red cheeks but couldn't tell if it was because of her anger or the fact that she was standing in front of this handsome person considered to be the most handsome Alphain in the world.
- Mia did mention the King of the North to me.
- "And who might you be?" When his rich, seductive voice reached my ears, every hair on my body stood on end.
- I tightened my fist, tears almost filling my eyes as I recalled my first encounter with the Crown Prince back in my past life.
- His voice was the only thing that brought peace to me.
- And now to see someone who hated you in your past life in your previous life with a different life... I have never experienced anything so absurd as this.
- Princess Alia bowed her head, "King of the North, I'm Princess Alia, the Princess of the Blue Rain Pack. Please let go of this slave, she might stain your hands with her dirtiness. She will be punished thoroughly for daring to come in here."
- "Oh... Princess Alia" He muttered, his eyes fixed on her. "I fear that I will be unable to let go of her, as the Moon Goddess has fated me with her."
- As soon as I heard those words, fire shot through my cheeks. I felt joy throughout my entire body as I watched Princess Alia's face twist into a mask of incredulity.
- "That can't be true!" Princess Alia uttered breathily.
- "Are you saying, the Moon Goddess made a mistake?" The King of the North questioned, his deep voice tinged with sarcasm.
- "No, King of the North! I wouldn't dare. I was just surprised an omega slave like her was fated to a great man like you" Princess Alia responded.
- A scoff escaped the King's lips and his gaze landed on me. "I wonder why too."
- I frowned hearing those words from someone who just defended me now, saying the Moon Goddess fated us together.
- "This slave here is latent and wouldn't do anything to contribute to the North Pack if you accept her as your mate" Princess Alia kept talking with her head bowed. Her words were filled with emotions of disbelief.
- I guess she was very shocked.
- "Are you telling me what to do now, Princess Alia?" The King of the North's voice sounded calm but a sensible person would know the hidden meaning behind those words. "I guess you've forgotten who I am, Princess Alia of the Blue Rain Pack. You will be punished for..."
- Princess Alia quickly went on her knees, "I'm sorry, Great King of the North! I'm sorry! I'm only concerned about you! I meant no harm at all!" With tears strolling down her cheeks.
- Since I woke up here, I've never seen Alia this terrified before. She has always been shameless and fearless.
- "I beg your forgiveness, King of the North, for my daughter's improper behavior. She's still learning and still in the phase of learning how things should be done. Please pardon the whole pack."
- Alpha King Aquila.
- He's the Alpha King of the Blue Rain Pack and also Princess Alia's Father.
- I've only seen him once since I arrived here and it was when Princess Alia punished me for failing to water the Garden after I woke up.
- Alpha King Aquila really didn't say much when he saw how badly I was treated. He merely smiled at his daughter and carried on as if the incident had never occurred.
- "I hope she is been given more guidance on proper procedures." The King of the North answered, unbothered.
- "Please lead the Princess to her room, Mira and Phin. And congratulations on finding your mate, Great King of the North" Alpha King Aquila uttered before turning around to leave while her daughter was being taken away by his two trusted maids.
- After they left, it remained me and the King of the North at the center of everyone's attention. Their staring and whispering would not cease.
- He released my hand at that precise moment and looked at me with inquisitive eyes.
- "So the Moon Goddess fated us?" I felt goosebumps when I heard his question.
- "Well, I guess so," I said, shrugging my shoulders and making an effort to look him in the eye.
- "I, the King of the North, reject you, whoever you may be as my Mate," he declared, his voice resonating with authority and dominance.
- The weight of his declaration reverberated throughout the great hall.
- "I knew he wouldn't bring shame to the North."
- "Why does she look surprised though? Does she expect someone like the King of the North to accept her?"
- "The first rejection of the day! Thank Goddess I found my mate of the same caliber!"
- And despite the whispers that rose around us like ghosts, he stood his ground, his confidence unwavering.
- I stood frozen, my heart pounding in my chest as I struggled to comprehend the words that fell from his lips.
- The shock of his rejection left me speechless, my mind reeling with disbelief.
- The intense pressure increased as I saw the people in the crowd staring at me with a mixture of scorn and curiosity.
- As he turned to leave, a surge of defiance ignited within me. How dare he cast me aside so callously? But he left me to deal with the derision and mockery before I could find my voice.
- I felt hurt and anger rising inside of me, ready to overwhelm my senses. "Don't you dare leave me here!" I screamed after him, the desperation evident in my voice. "Who are you to reject me? Who are you to defy the will of the Moon Goddess?"
- His footsteps stopped, and he looked back at me with an expression that was impossible to read. With a curious tone, he asked, "What did you just say?"
- "Why did you defend me before, only to abandon me now?" I demanded, my voice cracking with emotion. "What have I done to deserve this?"
- But before he could reply, I let out a cry of agony as a searing pain suddenly burst into my skull. Images and fragments flooded my mind, making the pain I was experiencing worse.
- Darkness threatened to overtake me, but before I succumbed, strong arms encircled me, breaking my fall.
- Through hazy vision, I glimpsed his
- crimson eyes, a flicker of concern betraying his stoic face.
- I held on to the brief warmth of his embrace as my consciousness faded.
