Chapter 2 Death

  • *FLASHBACK*
  • The sky was heavily dotted with brilliant stars in the pitch-black darkness. The full moon was shining among the glittering stars, brilliant and releasing various forms of energy: happiness and sorrow, light and darkness, and good and evil.
  • The high priest was standing on a rock in the pitch-black night, his mouth moving some strange, inaudible words, his eyes closed.
  • The bell rang abruptly, shocking the priest to the point where his eyes briefly flickered open.
  • Letting out a deep breath, he closed his eyes again, transforming into a deep brown-colored wolf.
  • He growled and released a resounding howl. Whether it was painful or not, it was only the high priest who could tell what he saw.
  • Axylia is a unique world with many mysteries, secrets, and supernatural beings that are concealed from the everyday world, in contrast to other worlds.
  • Though they all inhabit the same world, these creatures are obviously different from one another, and some of them never get along.
  • Not all creatures are perfect, but in Axylia, they must all fight for perfection.
  • And though they were all at odds, none of them could dare to miss the gathering that usually happens once every year.
  • ...
  • In the dimly lit room, she writhed in pain as she gazed at the clock on the wall. At that moment, a sudden realization dawned on her, a realization she had failed to realize for years.
  • A tear escaped her eyes and a little whimper escaped her lips.
  • Her maid, with teary eyes, barged through the door and entered the room.
  • "Your Highness, the Crown Prince is unable to visit at this time. He is in Lady Jameela Chamber" The maid broke down in tears. "My Lady please bear with it, the royal physician is on his way. Please, your Highness. I will kill myself if anything happens to you."
  • Using what little strength she had, she got herself off the bed and coughed up blood.
  • "Your Highness!" The maid let out a cry.
  • "Don't cry, Mira" She managed to say. "I appreciate you for everything you've done for me, Mira. Should I pass away..."
  • She paused, sobbing inaudibly in pain.
  • A month ago, she was laughing merrily in her wedding dress as she was getting married to the man of her dreams, the man she had secretly yearned for, for years.
  • That night, on her wedding night, when she was supposed to spend the night with him, he blatantly told her he wouldn't spend the night with her because he was in love with someone else.
  • She wasn't annoyed when she heard this because she was also aware of the fact that the Crown Prince was in love with Jameela, her rival in the fashion world.
  • However, she didn't expect him to leave her alone and spend the night with Jameela. She didn't believe he would sleep with Jameela.
  • She was his legal wife and the future Queen of the Kingdom. Even if he doesn't love her, he has disregarded her by doing that.
  • She continued to act as though she was unaware of the atrocity the Crown Prince had committed; perhaps this was due to love or foolishness. She, nevertheless, carried out her duties as the Crown Princess and as his legal wife.
  • And now, she was dying... She just wanted him to care for her, she wanted to see his face for the last time but he didn't show up...
  • "You won't die, My Lady" Her maid cried.
  • With a weak voice, she said, "Just listen to me," before coughing up blood. "I didn't have a chance to finish Author Rivers Series. Since you have always desired to read the books, you are free to keep the ones I purchased."
  • She continued to cry as she told her maid what she wanted done if she didn't live.
  • "It hurts so much that I can not finish the last series," a feeble smile spread across her face. "It is extremely painful that my spouse will not be able to see me before I depart, and it is extremely painful that I would depart feeling regretful."
  • Yes... She regretted it now. She shouldn't have condoned his behavior, she shouldn't have begged for his attention, she shouldn't have told him she had been in love with him for years... She shouldn't...
  • Her maid broke down in tears and for a moment, the maid's sobs went silent. She cast a quick glance at her lady's pale face, still pretty despite the paleness.
  • "My Lady!" She let out a deep, painful scream.
  • ...
  • "Hail the Alpha King!" A multitude of people bowed their heads to a man seated on the throne as they all hailed at once.
  • His eyes glowed as darkly as the night sky.
  • With piercing eyes, he oozes icy charm, his sculpted face, a masterpiece of calm. His face was void of emotions as if his heart was encased in ice.
  • "What's with the commotion?" His deep voice resounded in the ears of the Elders in front of him. "Why are you disturbing my peace?" Once more, he questioned, his tone chilling them to the bone.
  • They weren't supposed to be afraid but this is Alpha Jeconiah. The Alpha King that makes all Alpha Kings and wolves tremble.
  • "The mating ball is in two days, Your Majesty," One of the Elders said, his head bowed. "We were all concerned since you weren't making any decisions. You must attend this one, Alpha King."
  • His lips dropped into a low laugh. "Since when did the Elders start making decisions for me" He chuckled deviously once again. "The mating ball? You expect me to visit that small pack to bring home a woman who will be a weakness to me and the whole Kingdom? You all don't fail to amuse me."
  • One of the Elders with grey hair said, "Your Majesty, this is not the time for amusement." Unlike the other Elders, he did not seem scared and appeared to be accustomed to Jeconiah's coldness. "The Pack needs an heir, Your Majesty."
  • Jeconiah answered bluntly, "I can make one with my Mistresses, Elder Dumbbell."
  • "Alpha Jeco" Dumbbell called sternly. Being the only friend of the former Alpha King, Elder Dumbbell had more privileges than the other Alpha. "We need a Luna. We need a Queen not just an heir. Please make a good decision this time."
  • As a King, even though he has powers, there are some things he can't say no to. And one of them is finding his own true mate.
  • After a moment of silence, Jeco fina
  • lly answered. "I will be leaving for Blur Rain Pack in two days. Get everything ready.
