Chapter 9

• EVANTHE’s POV.
• When I get home, Samaj is seated in the living room with my father and Zoe sleeping on his lap. It isn’t even evening yet and he is already seated in the house. Why the heck did my father even allow him to come into our house and even sit in our living room after everything he fucking did to me. The only thing I want to do at this point is fucking slap him and send him out of the house.
• “Good evening dad” I greet as I walk past him to take my daughter from samaj, “why didn’t you tell her nanny to take her in?”
• “She wouldn’t let go” Samaj answers, “so I had to wait for her to sleep”
• “You do not have to wait for my daughter, Samaj” I roll my eyes to the back of my head, “you can drop her off and leave. Let’s not act like you care about her”
• “Where are you coming from, Eva?” Father asks from where he is seated but I ignore him. He should know better than letting my ex husband into the house.
• “You can leave now” I tell Samaj, “I am home now, you don’t have to be here anymore”
• Without saying anything to any of them again, I pick up my daughter and make my way towards the elevator. The nerve of him to walk into my house and act like we have the most beautiful thing going on. How dare he? My blood begins to boil and the only thing I want to do right now is slap the hell out of his face and send him out of my house.
• After placing Zoe in her room, I enter mine and decide to take a shower. I am trying hard not to think about Adir and the beautiful moment we spent together. The way he touched me, handled me and made me feel like a woman would forever be embedded in my head. Even though it was a mistake which I shouldn’t make again, I still can’t get over the feeling of him being inside of me.
• I slump on the bed and close my eyes while the image of his naked body pressed against mine, I would do anything to have him again. My wolf howls in my head, she is also excited to be with him. A knock comes on my door and I immediately open my eyes, sitting up on the bed.
• “Who is it?” I haven’t even changed out of my clothes yet but the person doesn’t answer, my door pushes open and Samaj steps into my room. I immediately shoot out of bed as my gaze falls on him, the audacity of this man to step into my room like he owns it.
• “How dare you come into my room?”
• “Your bodyguard” he starts to talk, “are you fucking him now?”
• “Excuse you?”
• “I remember leaving you at his house and this is when you come back? Zoe was waiting for you”
• “You could have called me” I tell him, “when it comes to my daughter, I do not compromise on her. Anytime she needs me, you call me”
• “Oh, I should” he scoffs, “when your bodyguard was busy screwing you”
• My hand immediately collides with his face in a tight slap and he immediately clutches onto his cheek,
• “How dare you walk into my room and speak to me like I owe you anything? Listen to me and listen good, Samaj. You have no fucking right to speak to me in that manner. We are nothing to each other, don’t you dare act like you are the boss of me”
• Samaj takes a step further, his gaze still lingering on me. He looks upset which I clearly do not care about. He can go to hell and burn to ashes because I do not give a fuck about him.
• “Whatever you do, do not get my daughter involved in your affairs, Eva” he growls.
• “And you have no right to tell me what I should do!” I hiss in anger, “she is mine and I will do whatever I want. Stay away from us. Now get the hell out of my room”
• Rolling my eyes at him, I turn around and make my way towards the bathroom. How dare he come into my room and act this way? Seeing him has reopened old wounds, seeing him and remembering everything we shared. Our bond, our mind link, every single thing but he has forgotten. He has forgotten everything we have been through together and chose to break our bond then he comes into my room and asks me questions. I won’t let him hurt me anymore, I am only going to focus on my work and nothing more. Everyone else and everything else can go to hell. Right now I am more worried about the news circulating. I want to know who acquired X-gaming and what their game plan is. From what I heard earlier, the course of the gaming community is going to change if this anonymous person is allowed into our midst. I have to get to the bottom of this and I won’t let Samaj ruin my mood.

• “Yes, please” I say into the receiver before replacing it. I return my attention to my assistant who is standing in front of me with some documents in hand.
• “Have you gotten what I asked?” I inquire, leaning back against the reclining chair.
• “No Information ma’am” she answers, “it’s like the person do not want to be found”
• “You can do better than this, Christina!” I half yell, banging my hand against the table angrily, “we need all the information we need on that man, you can’t come to my office and tell me you don’t have anything for me”
• “We are working on it ma’am”
• “Then be fast about it. You can leave!”
• “Sure ma’am” She turns on her heel and makes her way out of my office while the phone starts ringing.
• “Hello”
• “Hello ma’am” a familiar voice filters through my ear, “this is the moving company. We got a call from your assistant to go pack today. I am calling to confirm if that’s your order?”
• “Yes, please” I tell him, “I want to get fully settled in my apartment by the end of tomorrow”
• “Okay ma’am, we will get right to it”
• “Thank you”
• I replace the phone on the table and continue with my work. I need to get a lot done by the end of today. The issue of X-gaming is still spreading like wildfire and I am still unable to get any information on the new CEO of that company. As if the moon goddess is on my side, the intercom beeps and I pick it up.
• “Ma’am”
• “Tell me”
• “Someone is here to see you” she says, “he doesn’t have an appointment but he says he is a representative from X-gaming” My eyes immediately light up, why would a representative be here?
• “Sure, let him come up”
• “Okay ma’am”
• A few minutes later, a man in a well tailored suit walks into my office. From his entire demeanor, it is safe to say he is not just any kind of person and now I can’t help but wonder who he is.
• “Hello, Miss Festilio”
• “Hello, Mr…
• “Call me Andy” he says, “I am one of the legal representatives of the X-gaming”
• “Please, have a seat”
• “Thank you”
• He lowers himself on the chair opposite me before pulling out some documents from his bag. He looks really serious and capable. I can already find myself curious about what he has to say.
• “So tell me, Mr Andy. What brings you to my office”
• “Well, I would have gone to meet the CEO directly but I was told you are more interested in this company”
• A look of confusion settles on my face, “How did..” I stop, it is easy to find information on these things these days so no need to ask, “tell me, what are your offers?”
• “My boss is willing to let you work ok this project but that would be on a few conditions” he starts to talk again, “here” Andy drops a document on the table in front of me, “there are a few clauses that have been listed in the documents and if you are interested, we can proceed on the contract”
• I don’t bother to say anything as I pick up the document from the table and start to skim through it. After a while, I look up, my face expressionless.
• “What do you mean that both companies would be merged together but he would have the biggest share?”
• Andy clears his throat, his eyes not leaving me for even a moment,“You and I know that X-gaming is going to break into the international market when launched. Mirage may be big but X-gaming is making the new wave. Don’t you want to be part of the winning team, Miss Festilio?”
• I press back against the chair as I continue to stare at him, trying to decipher what’s going on in his mind. I don’t even know the new owner of the company and he wants me on his team?”
• “I do not even know your boss”
• “Is that a dealbreaker?” Andy raises an eyebrow at me, “I thought you were interested in the company”
• “Yes, I am but I would have to meet him before I can make any decisions. And that aside, I still need to discuss with the CEO and also the board of directors”
• “Meeting my boss is as impossible as it can be but speaking to your directors is a necessity. Well, we will be expecting your call. You know this is too juicy to refuse right? Like I said, we will be expecting”
• He stands up and makes his way out of the office without another word. What the hell? What’s going on? I pick up the document again and read through it. Indeed the offers are mouthwatering but that would put mirage in a second place and that’s not what I have had in mind ever since I took the position of acting CEO. I want to make Mirage the center of gaming and now X-gaming has come into the picture. I have to discuss this with my father first.
• Picking up the document again, I hasten out of the office but the moment I open my door, I come in contact with a brick wall, the only thing is that this wall has a beating heart.
