Chapter 7
- ADIR’s POV.
- A knock comes on my door and we both stop what we are doing. Zoe is on my shoulders giggling so loudly. She wouldn’t let me take a rest unless I swirled her around on my shoulders and it has been fun having her around. Her mother should be here in a while and well I was looking forward to it until the knock comes against
- “Are you expecting anyone?” She asks me and I shake my head in the negative. No one except Alexander knows my house and he wouldn’t come without my permission. The knock comes again and I finally make my way to go and open it hoping to see Evanthe but instead I see an angry looking man in front of me with Evanthe behind him. I recognize that face, I have seen it somewhere before. Then it registers, her ex husband. What the fuck is he doing in my house anyways?
- “Daddy!” The little girl on my shoulders squeals excitedly and almost jumps off but I quickly grab her and lower her to the ground. My eyes travel to Eva who has an unexplainable look on her face.
- “Sorry” she mouths but my attention shifts to the man in front of me who is now hugging his daughter even though his eyes are still on me.
- “How are you sweetheart?” He asks his daughter, scooping her off the ground into his arms.
- “You are finally back daddy” Zoe swirls excitedly, “where have you been?”
- “Sorry, my love” he pats her cheek again; “daddy has been really busy lately and that’s my love but I am here now okay?”
- “So have you come to take me and mama home?”
- I stiffen and my attention focuses back on Evanthe who looks like she wants the ground to open up and swallow her whole.
- “And you are?” He finally asks me.
- “He is mama’s bodyguard!” Zoe beams, “and I like him too”
- “You shouldn’t get close to such people, princess” he tells his daughter with his eyes still focused on me, “bodyguards are meant to be behind us”
- “Samaj!” Evanthe speaks up for the first time since they both arrived, “don’t do that”
- “I am telling the truth,” the man blurts out, “leaving my daughter with a man whom she barely knows. What if something happens and he…” he stops talking as I glare at him, my eyes darkening at the thought of what he was about to say next.
- “He is a good man, papa” Zoe says again, this time in a more happy tone, “he bought me a lot of ice cream”
- “Do you wanna spend the day with me?”
- I watch Zoe look over at her mother who nods in agreement but she doesn’t look happy about it. It wouldn’t hurt to butt in but I do not know their relationship with each other now and why the heck he is on my front porch but that’s for me to ask my employee later.
- “You can only take her for two hours” Evanthe says after a while, glaring at her husband with every hatred her body can muster, “and if you do not bring her back after two hours Samaj, I swear that you would regret knowing me”
- “You do not need to threaten me!” He tells her, “I know what to do” he turns to me again, his face creasing into a frown, “and stay away from my daughter, bodyguard”
- Without saying anything again, he scoops his daughter into his arms and walks away but not before pressing a kiss against Evanthe’s cheek. It surprises me just as it does for her. She was not expecting that and I can clearly see it from the way her eyes almost flies out of their sockets when his lips came in contact with her face. None of us say anything until he disappears out of my gate. This is when I finally move out of the way.
- “What?”
- “Are you going to come in or just stand there?” I ask with a raised brow and she lets out a sign before stepping into my living room. Her eyes travel round my room and I see her nod to herself. She seems pleased.
- “You have got a nice cozy place,” Evanthe says.
- “Thank you!” I tell her, “I designed it myself”
- Her jaw drops, surprise forming a shadow over her face. She didn’t expect me to say that and I am very well aware of that.
- “What exactly can’t you do, Adir?”
- I scoff, covering the distance between us until my huge frame hovers over her. She looks so small standing in front of me but my attention is drawn to her full lips covered in red rogue. What would happen if I pulled her into my arms and gave her a kiss? Would her ex husband walk into my house and slam his fist into my face? The thought of it makes me chuckle lightly.
- “The only thing I didn’t do is slam my fist into your ex husband’s face” I tell her, “he got on my nerves”
- Eva lets out another sigh; she looks remorseful. “I am sorry about that” she apologizes, “he just showed up at the office and when I refused to tell him where she was, he called her school and he was given your address. I am really sorry for showing up to your house like this”
- “Do you still love him?”
- “Sorry?”
- “Do you still love your ex husband, Eva?” I ask again, “he kissed you on your cheek and you didn’t say anything. It was like you have been waiting for it. Tell me, are you still in love with him?”
- “No…of course not…”
- She looks uncertain, she could still love him but I can actually see the hate in her eyes for him so why!
- “I do not love him anymore” Evanthe blurts out again, “we are done. He only showed up today and I let Zoe go with him because she hasn’t seen him in five months and she was pretty excited to see her father”
- “Champagne?” I finally walk away from her before I let my intrusive thoughts win over.
- “Tell me, Adir” Evanthe starts walking towards me, “why do I feel like I don’t know everything about you yet?”
- “What do you mean?” I hand her the glass of champagne I just poured, “this is all of me, there is nothing else to know about me”
- “Well” she takes a sip, her eyes traveling around my living room again, “these paintings on the wall do not look cheap at all. I recognize the painting of the void from an auction in Paris last year”
- “Oh. I see. I got it as a gift from someone”
- “Someone?” She seems overly interested, “you must be really someone else then Adir”
- “What exactly do you want to know, Boss?” I cover the space between us again, “you seem really curious about me”
- “Well, because you are?” She sips her glass, “and I would like to know more” her eyes travel and settles on my body. I am putting on a pair of white Shirt which had left my arm bare. I can see her looking longingly at the tattoo on my arm.
- “You like wolves?”
- “I love them actually, I feel like they represent me”
- “Oh, I see” she slowly drags her gaze back to my face. We are standing so close together that any step forward and I would be able to pull her into my embrace but I do not make a move.
- “Do you want to take me on a tour round your house?” She suggests after a while but I feel like I can read a different meaning to what she has just said.
- “You really want a tour, boss?”
- “Do I look like I am joking?” Eva takes a step closer and I clench my jaw together. What the heck does she think she is doing?
- “What…
- “Do I look attractive to you, Adir?”
- “Of course you are”
- “So you won’t reject me if I tell you to make love to me?”
- “What? Eva?” I take a step back but she pulls me closer, encircling her hands around my torso.
- “Right now I am stressed and I am not thinking straight. Do not refuse me, Adir”
- “Your father would kill me if he finds out that I even thought of touching you, boss”
- “You fucking want me too, Adir” she cajoles, “forget about anyone else and just look at me. You can see this as part of your bodyguard services”
- “It wasn’t mentioned in my contract”
- “Well, I could review the contract” she leans closer again, her body pressed against mine, “please Adir!”
- “Fuck me!” I mutter under my breath as her hand slowly travels down my body and cups my hardness through my pants. I am so fucking hard and she can cleary see that.
- “Please, Adir!”
- “Do not regret this, Eva”
- “I promise, I won’t”
- As soon as the words leave her mouth, I crash mine on hers and scoop her off the ground towards the guest room. She asked and the only thing I am meant to do as her bodyguard is do as she had asked.
