Chapter 11

• EVANTHE’s POV.
• I shouldn’t have spoken to him like that but I can’t compromise my daughter’s safety for anyone. Zoe inherited her father’s wolf traits. Samaj is an Alpha level wolf but he has a weak heart and somehow, my daughter inherited it from him. I have tried to keep her safe since the day she was born and her school head knows that I do not take her to another hospital except one but today she chose to do otherwise and I almost had my daughter’s safety compromised. What would happen if the world finds out exactly what she is? People would judge her and I would be left to deal with the aftermath myself. These are the reasons why father wants to keep her safe and away from the public eye and at this point, I actually agree with him. Now see my baby lying on the hospital bed with doctor Iris hovering over her. Iris is one of the pack members who has become a doctor and she is the only one who takes care of my daughter, no one else.
• My thoughts are interrupted when I see a shadow cast upon me and I raise my head to see Adir beside me. We haven’t said a word since I snapped at him in the car and I actually feel bad about it, I just don’t know how to start talking to him. He really looked pissed then.
• “Adir…” the words hang in my mouth when I see Samaj coming towards us, he also looks upset but that’s the least of my worries right now. Why the heck is he actually here? How did he even find out?
• “Why didn’t you tell me?” He grits his teeth together.
• “And why should I tell you?” I roll my eyes, “do you want reporters hovering over the fact that we have a daughter together?”
• “I do not care!” He snaps, “Zoe means the world to me and If anything happens to her, I will burn the world to the ground, I don’t give a single fuck”
• “That’s none of my business. She is fine, she only had an episode so please get the hell out of here before anyone comes”
• He glances at Adir who is busy looking at us and he clenches his jaw together.
• “Your bodyguard gets to be here and I should leave?”
• “It’s not my that you chose not to be in your daughter’s life so leave, Samaj”
• At that moment, the door opens up and Iris steps out.
• “How is she?” Adir asks immediately, his voice laced with concern towards my daughter and this makes me feel even more. I shouldn’t have spoken to him in that way at all. I was projecting my insecurities on him.
• Iris glances at him before turning to us. “Can I speak to you privately, Eva?”
• “Sure”
• With one last look at the two men, o follow her Into the room. Zoe is unconscious but she isn’t in danger anymore which gives me a little relief.
• “Tell me, what’s going on Iris?”
• “Her wolf is weak” she tells me, “I will Prescribe some medication but the pack healer should come check on her. Before we had a grip on her seizures but we can’t be too sure now. Let the healer come to see her. Samaj, is he still exhibiting such symptoms?”
• “I don’t know, Iris” I tell her sincerely, “we have been separated for five months”
• She lets out a sigh. Aside from being a doctor, she is also the only friend I have and that’s why she knows a lot of things about me and my family. I do not hide anything from her no matter what.
• “Let the pack healer come. She won’t find out that she is your daughter. I care about Zoe and I would hate to see anything happen to her, okay?”
• “Sure, I will do that”
• “For now she is safe, we will monitor her until tomorrow morning to be sure”
• “Thank you”
• “Don’t mention”
• With a smile, she walks out of the room while I turn to my girl but I don’t go close to her. I don’t want to aggravate her situation any more.
• “I am sorry” I mutter under my breath before finding my way out. Both men are still standing and waiting.
• “Adir!”
• “Ma’am” he responds in a bland voice.
• “We will leave in a few minutes”
• “Yes ma’am”
• “Can you please give me a moment?”
• “Sure!”
• He doesn’t even spare me any glance before walking away leaving me and Samaj who looks very apprehensive. I don’t know where we went wrong but I know he loves his daughter with everything inside of him.
• “Her heart is weak” I tell him, “we may need to bring in the pack healer”
• “So let’s do it!” He responds immediately, “what are we waiting for”
• “We can’t lrr the world know”
• “And you think I care about that?” He snaps in anger, his eyes darkening, “I don’t care about the reputation you and your father are fighting for but nothing should happen to my daughter”
• His statement makes me scoff, the fact that he thinks his opinion matters amazes me the most. How dare he?
• “You have no say in this, Samaj” I cut him off, “I will take care of my daughter myself but what I will not do is put my daughter out there for her to be bashed. I will bring the pack healer in but stay away from us, okay?”
• “I am only worried about her”
• “I can take care of her. Stop hurting me the more”
• “But…
• “Goodbye, Samaj”
• Sniffing lightly, I turn around and make my way out of the hallway. Adir is seated in the lobby and he stands up as soon as he sees me.
• “Are we leaving now, ma’am?” He asks me.
• “I just need to get some things from the house and get back here”
• “You can tell me and I will grab them for you. The nanny”
• “Adir!” I cut him off and he clamps his mouth shut, his gaze traveling over me.
• “About what happened in the car..
• “It’s really none of my business, ma’am” he interrupts me, “my work is just to keep you safe but I forgot that for a moment and stepped out of line. You needn’t worry about me”
• I shake my head in the negative, he clearly is upset and I genuinely don’t know what to say to him.
• “I am sorry!”
• “It’s not your fault. Tell me, what should I get for you?”
• “Can you stop pretending like you didn’t feel hurt when I told you off. I….
• “What the fuck were you thinking?” He snaps and I am taken aback. I didn’t know he had so much anger.
• “What..
• “You have sex with me and you tell me off. As if that’s not enough, I ask about your daughter and you snap at me. What the hell do you think you are doing, Eva?”
• “I didn’t…
• “If you don't see me as your bodyguard again after seeing my dick, I am more than willing to have myself replaced. Do you understand that?”
• “I think you are going overboard now, I just…
• “Overboard?” He scoffs before leaning closer, his minty breath fanning my face, “look sweetheart, I am all shades of everything your ex husband or any other man you have been with will be so quit treating me like I am some kind of doormat okay? We had sex and that’s it, we are two consenting adults and I only asked about your daughter because I was worried. But it was my fault, so I will stick to my lane now. I will be in the car, ma’am”
• Gritting his jaw against each other, Adir storms off in long steady strides. He looks so hot like a fucking villain. Somewhere in my head, I know he is dangerous for me but I have always craved the villains and this particular villain just gave me a piece of his mind and I know I shouldn’t but fuck!!!!
