Chapter 39 Keep Protecting Me

• April did not know why her heart skipped a beat when she turned and saw Damon. Although, she had expected it to be him since she recognised his voice from the vision and she knew that the person who had just touched her was no other person but the demon. However, she was still tensed up upon seeing him. Maybe it was because he looked different or maybe it was because he was staring at her with that dark expression filled with nothing but pure hatred. Either ways, the demon's physical appearance looked odd. Since the day he had abducted her, she had never seen him look this haggard before. His hair which were usually neatly combed was messy, his handsome face looked pale like that of a ghost and his shirt which used to be neatly ironed was rumpled and not even properly buttoned. Just what on earth happened to him that made him look this way. He looked so tired and his eye were red as if he had not slept for days when it was only yesterday they last saw each other.
• "What are you doing here?" His cold deep voice distracted her from her thoughts.
• The way his question sounded was as though she wasn't meant to be in the library and that made her wonder why she shouldn't be here when this was only a library. "Are you okay? You look tired." She said instead of answering his question as she couldn't stop thinking about his new odd physical appearance. And just as if he had gone back to his snubbish mode, he didn't reply her instead his gaze seemed fixed at something behind her but when she turned to see what he was staring at, all she saw were just books arranged on a shelf. She averted her gaze from it and faced him. "Where have you been?" She still questioned him even when she knew he might not reply her. She had been asking about him but that man kept giving her the same reply and he wouldn't even tell her about his whereabout.
