Chapter 9 Crisis In The ER Department
- “Who said no one else in Hofcaster is worthy of Theresa?” Elliott stepped forward, casually handing the roses to Theresa.
- Upon seeing Elliott, Theresa was taken aback. “How come you're here?”
- The two individuals before her eyes were nothing but trouble for Theresa.
- Javier furrowed his brows, his gaze scrutinizing the two individuals. Do they really know each other?
- Seeing how poorly Elliott was dressed, Javier laughed out loud. “Hahaha! Bumpkin, don't tell me you think you're worthy of Theresa!”
- Within the high society in Hofcaster, everyone knew of Theresa.
- Theresa was a rare beauty, backed by the influential Rudowski family, and her abilities were extraordinary.
- Elliott stood silently in front of Javier, extending his hand to display the matching ring he shared with Theresa.
- “You? Are you Theresa's husband?” Javier questioned.
- “Indeed!” Elliott stood tall, arms crossed and head held high, radiating an air of confidence.
- “Haha! What a joke!” Javier burst into laughter. “How could Theresa ever fall for a bumpkin like you?”
- After laughing, Javier lowered his head, his expression shifting. “Scram! What are you? How dare a country bumpkin like you lay a finger on Theresa? Do you know who I am? I'm from the Wade family of Hofcaster!”
- Elliott stroked his chin. “What's so special about the Wade family?”
- “D*mn it! You're asking for trouble!” Javier roared.
- Hofcaster was filled with rich people, and families like the Wade family and the Rudowski family were considered prominent households.
- Hence, everyone knew about them and would show them respect.
- Does this young man have a death wish? How could he dare to speak about me in such a way? Unable to contain his anger, Javier threw the roses aside, ready to teach Elliott a lesson.
- Unexpectedly, Elliott had somehow vanished before Javier's fist reached him.
- “I'm here!” Elliott uttered.
- Frustrated, Javier turned back, his fist poised once more, readying himself for the second punch.
- Elliott was the first to strike, landing a punch squarely on Javier's face. A trickle of blood began to seep from Javier's nose.
- “Show some respect to someone else's wife next time! Otherwise, every time I see you, I'll hit you! Honey, let's go.” Elliott took Theresa by the hand and left together.
- In an effort to evade her suitor, Theresa followed Elliott, and they retreated into Rudowski Group.
- Within the confines of the stairwell, Theresa, her arms folded, wore a look of disgust on her face. “Who asked you to come?” she questioned.
- Although Theresa had publicly announced her marriage, it was merely a tactic to ward off Javier, not a genuine acceptance of Elliott.
- In Theresa's mind, Elliott was nothing less than a perfect blend of a thug and a pervert.
- “I was passing by after work, and I thought I'd come to check on you,” Elliott said with a smile.
- “Are you working now?” Theresa was taken aback. “Where are you working?”
- “The traditional medicine department at Hofcaster General Hospital,” Elliott replied with a smile.
- Theresa didn't press further. She simply assumed that Elliott was just an employee there and didn't really pay him much mind. “Fine. I'll go home with you.”
- Theresa finished work early, coinciding perfectly with mealtime. Upon returning home, she ran into Pedro and Thalia.
- Obviously, the two of them took turns to tease Elliott sarcastically.
- “Well, isn't this our Rudowski family's matrilocal son-in-law?”
- “Do you have nothing better to do? Are you reduced to picking up your wife from work to prove your worth?”
- “Exactly! Even so, his wife still doesn't like him!”
- Faced with the mockery of the two individuals, Elliott decided to retaliate. He subtly plunged a silver needle into each of their abdomens.
- For a moment, both of them clutched their stomachs in agony, fleeing in sheer panic.
- “Ouch! My stomach is killing me!”
- “Me too! I feel like I'm about to have a stomach upset!”
- A smile graced the lips of Elliott as he leaned against a corner.
- Just a moment ago, Elliott had cleverly used a silver needle to stimulate certain acupoints on their abdomen, giving them the sensation of diarrhea.
- Theresa stood off to the side, observing Elliott. Did he do that to them? Did he cause someone to have a stomachache through thin air? Could it be that Elliott actually has some skills?
- Theresa began to feel a sense of curiosity toward Elliott in her heart.
- Fortunately, within the Rudowski residence, Melvin treated Elliott well. Under Melvin's rule, no one dared to speak ill of Elliott.
- From that day forward, Elliott started driving Theresa to work. After all, their offices were nearby to each other.
- For reasons unknown, Theresa showed no intention of refusal.
- One day, after dropping off Theresa at work, Elliott made his way to the traditional medicine department.
- Everyone was lazing around, and no one expected that a major event was about to unfold.
- Outside the traditional medicine department, a robust middle-aged man rushed into the traditional medicine department, carrying a girl in a red skirt with the utmost urgency.
- Instead of heading for the ER department as they should have, they were deterred by the overwhelming crowd. The robust man, worried that the child might not hold up, inadvertently ended up in the traditional medicine department.
- Upon hearing the commotion, Paul hurriedly rushed out, directing the doctors to swiftly carry the child into the emergency room of the traditional medicine department.
- “Doctor, I beg you! Please save my daughter!” The middle-aged man was covered in a sheen of sweat on his forehead. Upon seeing Paul, he immediately knelt before Paul and pleaded, “Doctor, I beg you!”
- With a heart full of compassion, Paul extended a hand to the robust man. “It's okay,” he reassured him. “We'll do everything in our power to help your daughter. Please step outside for a moment. We need to do an examination.”
- The robust man was led out by the nurse.
- This was the traditional medicine department, where Paul had placed two fingers on the girl's pulse point. “Her pulse is smooth yet solid, alternating between weak and strong... What's this?”
- Paul could only sense the girl's critical condition, yet he was unable to pinpoint the exact nature of her illness.
- “Wait! How could I have forgotten about him?” With a clap of his hands, Paul thought of Elliott.
- “Keep an eye on the kid here. I'll go call for help,” Paul said to Howard.
- Howard appeared, donned a pristine white coat, his face radiating with a sense of accomplishment. “Don't worry, Dr. Collier.”
- Paul departed, heading toward Elliott's location.
- The noise in the hallway had caught Elliott's attention. He peeked out to investigate, only to see Paul rushing toward him.
- “What's the matter?” Elliott asked.
- “Elliott, the time has come when we need you!” Paul, clutching Elliott's arm, sprinted toward the emergency room, all the while briefing him on the girl's pulse condition.
- At the entrance of the emergency room, Elliott asked, “Did you notice a strong pulse, any sign of a thick tongue coating, a flushed face, or a feeling of abdominal pain?”
- Paul furrowed his brows in thought. “I did! I actually did!”
- At that moment, a burly man rushed over. “Doctor, what's wrong with my daughter?”
- Elliott scrutinized the man from head to toe, noticing some mud on his trousers. Soon after, he asked, “Does your family make a living from the rice fields?”
- The burly man was taken aback, his gaze landing on the young man before him. “Yes! Our family makes a living from the snails we harvest from our pond.”
- Upon hearing this, Elliott clapped his hands, his face filled with joy. “That explains it!”
- “Doctor, what's wrong with my daughter?”
- “Your daughter has contracted an infantile parasitic disease, most likely from being near the pond. Some parasites have entered her body, causing these symptoms,” Elliott said.
- “I see! How did I not think of this earlier!” Paul's admiration for Elliott deepened. This individual is not only exceptionally skilled in medicine, but he also possesses profound insights.
- “All right. Let's quickly go in and check on the child's situation!” Paul pushed Elliott forward.
- At that time, within the emergency room, a different scenario was unfolding.
- Ever since Howard arrived at the traditional medicine department, the number of patients he encountered was very few. Hence, he thought that was the perfect opportunity for him to prove his worth.
- Howard took the pulse, laughing as he said, “It's just a common case of a child's diarrhea! Watch me handle this effortlessly. I'll show Dr. Collier what I'm capable of!”
