Chapter 6 Grandchild
- “Here, this is the prescription. If taken as instructed for a week, Old Mr. Rudowski's illness will improve.”
- Elliott handed over a prescription he had personally written to Theresa.
- Given the current situation, it was rather awkward for an outsider like himself to stick around.
- Hence, Elliott promptly left after providing the prescription.
- In the hallway outside the room, a figure donned in a white lab coat hastily caught up with Elliott.
- “Dr. Elliott, slow down! Slow down!” Paul called out, chasing after him while gesturing with his hand.
- Elliott halted in his tracks, turning around. “Hmm? Did you call me?”
- He sized up Paul from head to toe. Isn't this the same man who was sarcastic to me just a while ago? What could he possibly want now, coming after me?
- As Elliott was deep in thought, a smile crossed Paul's face.
- “Dr. Elliott, was that the long-lost acupuncture skill you used just now called the Big Dipper Technique?” Paul's face was filled with anticipation. There's no doubt about it! He must've come across it in the ancient records! I know I'm right!
- Elliott turned to look at Paul, giving a nod of approval. This old man, indeed, has some insight.
- Upon seeing this, Paul became excited. “Dr. Elliott, who mentored you?”
- Elliott stroked his chin. “Albus from Lusterg.”
- Though his father wasn't exactly a renowned doctor, he was quite the talk of the town in Lusterg and Wusteria.
- Upon hearing this, Paul tugged at the corner of his mouth, wondering what kind of mentorship this was supposed to be. All right! This young man is capable! His ability to perform the Big Dipper Technique makes him superior compared to many traditional medicine practitioners. After all, not every traditional medicine practitioner knows how to perform acupuncture, let alone this kind of advanced acupuncture skill. There's a need for extensive medical experience, and precision in applying acupuncture is essential. Even I, who have been in the profession for many years, only know the simple and basic acupuncture techniques!
- Despite Paul's seemingly proud demeanor, he was most known for his appreciation of talent.
- Seeing the genius of Elliott then, he couldn't be content without inviting him back.
- With a warm smile, Paul approached Elliott. “Hey there, Dr. Elliott. Are you interested in working at our hospital?”
- Oh? He's actually offering me a job! Elliott pondered before responding, “But I don't have a medical qualification certificate.”
- Working in a hospital was not like being a barefoot doctor in the village. It required a proper medical qualification certificate.
- Not only did Elliott not have certifications, he didn't even have a bachelor's degree.
- The most he had was just an elementary school diploma.
- “Well...” Paul hadn't anticipated this outcome, but he remained undeterred. “It's okay. It's okay! You just need to come to my department. There's no need for a medical qualification certificate.”
- Upon hearing these words, Elliott looked at Paul with a hint of skepticism.
- It wasn't until Paul handed his business card to Elliott that Elliott finally believed Paul.
- “Come to my department. I'll let you be the lead doctor. I'll give you a monthly salary of five thousand! Plus, there's a commission! You'll get two days off each week!”
- After he finished speaking, Paul's face was filled with anticipation. A reputable hospital, complete with comprehensive insurance and a monthly salary of five thousand! Plus, weekends off! My offer must be tempting!
- Elliott grew up in Lusterg, learning the art of healing from his father since childhood. It was considered good if they could make a thousand in a month.
- “I need to think about it.” In the end, Elliott still needed some time to contemplate.
- Unexpectedly, Paul, in his excitement, grabbed Elliott's hand. “What are you still considering? I'll add another thousand to your salary! Six thousand a month!”
- Seeing that he couldn't dodge the issue, Elliott had no choice but to agree. “Done! I accept your offer!” he said.
- “All right! That's great! Remember to come to work on Monday! I'll be waiting for you at Hofcaster General Hospital!” Paul instructed before he left.
- There wasn't much going on with the Rudowski family anymore, and Elliott was also preparing to leave.
- At that moment, Theresa appeared.
- Facing Elliott, Theresa said hesitantly, “Hey, don't leave just yet. My grandpa wants to meet you.”
- Just a moment ago, the first thing Melvin did upon waking up was surprisingly to show concern for Theresa's marital affairs.
- Melvin knew that it was Elliott, the son of Albus, who had saved him. He hadn't forgotten the marriage agreement they had set up in the past, so he had his Theresa invite Elliott in.
- Elliott could sense Theresa's attitude toward him, and he wasn't willing to welcome a cold shoulder. Isn't Lola from the village wonderful? She's much more passionate than Theresa.
- With that thought, Elliott crossed his arms and promptly declined, saying, “As long as Old Mr. Rudowski is well, there's no need for concern. I won't go in.”
- “You...” Theresa was dissatisfied. She then said, “Mr. Elliott, I haven't paid you the consultation fee, right?”
- Just as Elliott had turned around, he heard those words. Wait! That's right! They haven't paid the consultation fee! I nearly forgotten about this matter!
- “Right! The consultation fee! Hurry up and settle it for me! I need to get home!” Elliott said.
- Everything else was trivial, and the consultation fee is what truly matters! Wealthy households surely won't skimp on my consultation fee! In his heart, Elliott was letting out a silent cry.
- Seeing Elliott take the bait, Theresa curled her lips, her tone indifferent. “Follow me if you want your consultation fee. Otherwise, you won't get a penny!”
- “How Sneaky!” Filled with resentment, Elliott followed closely behind Theresa.
- Before, he had thought of Theresa as a beauty, but then he saw her as nothing more than a bloodsucking capitalist.
- Inside Melvin's room, all three of the Rudowski brothers were present.
- Melvin had just recovered from a serious illness and was still somewhat weak, but he showed signs of excitement upon seeing Elliott. “Are you Elliott?”
- Elliott walked up to Melvin and gave a nod. “Yes.”
- “Okay. I owe my recovery to you this time. You're as skilled as your father, truly remarkable.” When Melvin looked at Elliott, his gaze was filled with kindness.
- This elder was entirely different from his three sons. Corvin was cunning, Gavin was sly, and Devin was foolish.
- Therefore, Elliott actually quite liked Melvin.
- Melvin revealed his long-standing connection with Albus.
- Subsequently, Melvin sighed with emotion. “In the blink of an eye, so many years have passed. You and Theresa have also grown up. Elliott, your father must have mentioned the marriage proposal with Theresa to you, right?”
- A blush crept onto Elliott's face when he heard those words. After all, he was a genuinely innocent young man. “Yes. He mentioned it before.”
- “You know, I'm getting on in years. My greatest wish right now is to see the two of you happily married as soon as possible,” Melvin uttered.
- Elliott was caught off guard when he heard that. This old man is straightforward!
- Elliott cleared his throat lightly and responded, “Old Mr. Rudowski, love is a matter between two people. It requires the consent of both parties.”
- Melvin chuckled merrily. “Theresa has no objections. Elliott, would you be willing to marry Theresa?”
- Did that cold woman really agree? Elliott looked at Theresa with a hint of skepticism, while Theresa stood by, her face devoid of any expression. Is that a silent approval?
- “Why wait for a chosen day when today could be the day? Let's do it tomorrow!” Melvin decided on the spot and laughed. “Haha! I hope to hold my great-grandchild as soon as possible before I close my eyes for good!”
- Perhaps due to some excitement, Melvin gave a few light coughs.
- Elliott was close to Melvin, so he stretched out his hand to press on specific acupoints. Consequently, Melvin recovered.
- “Old Mr. Rudowski, try not to get too agitated,” Elliott advised. “You're still weak. You still need some time to recuperate.”
- “Ah, Elliott, you're thoughtful. Elliott, from now on, you'll be living in the Rudowski residence. I promise to take good care of you on your father's behalf,” Melvin assured Elliott.
