Chapter 8 The Suitor Of The Wife

  • After spending a few days at the Rudowski residence, Elliott had come to understand the situation of the Rudowski family.
  • The Rudowski brothers were at odds. In particular, the eldest, Corvin, was resentful that their father favored the youngest, Devin.
  • Theresa, Devin's daughter, had also secured a significant position within Rudowski Group. All Pedro and Thalia could do was to derive joy from edging out Theresa.
  • All Elliott could do was to talk his way out of things.
  • In a prominent family like the Rudowski family, one's status and position held the power of speech.
  • Every day, Theresa would leave early in the morning and only return late at night. Each time, Elliott would prepare an herbal soup to replenish her energy and vitality.
  • Meanwhile, he was looking forward to the day when he could win over Theresa.
  • After some time, Melvin's health had also stabilized.
  • At the same time, Elliott was being rushed by Paul to get to the hospital for work.
  • Reluctantly, Elliott chose a Monday to begin his new role.
  • That day, there was a bustling crowd inside Hofcaster General Hospital.
  • Obviously, one would expect a city's hospital to be packed. Besides, that was also where the spending was at its highest.
  • Dressed in his freshly laundered, crisp white attire, Elliott stepped into Hofcaster General Hospital, his feet clad in modest canvas shoes.
  • After much difficulty, he finally found the traditional medicine department.
  • At that time, Paul, as the department head, was in a meeting. When he saw Elliott, he invited him in.
  • “Dr. Elliott, you've arrived!” Paul chuckled joyfully.
  • “You don't need to call me Dr. Elliott. Just call me Elliott.”
  • Elliott wasn't used to Paul's way of addressing him. Keep it low-key! Everything should be a bit more low-key!
  • “Allow me to introduce this man. Everyone, this is our department's new doctor, Elliott Lozano. From today onward, the vacant lead doctor's office over there will be his,” Paul announced.
  • As these words were spoken, the doctors who were in a meeting were taken aback.
  • “What? This guy is the lead doctor as soon as he arrives?”
  • “What's this guy's story?”
  • Faced with the crowd's questions, Paul waved his hand dismissively. “It doesn't matter what his story is! All you need to know is that he's incredibly capable! Let me tell you something. Dr. Elliott's medical skills are unparalleled. He's someone you simply can't compete with! All right. That's all. Meeting's over!”
  • “Dr. Elliott, please stay,” Paul said to Elliott.
  • Inside the conference room, Paul introduced the traditional medicine department with a smile.
  • “Elliott, stay here without worry. As long as I'm here, there won't be any problems,” Paul said.
  • Elliott nodded and followed Paul as he was led to visit his own office.
  • The office was just over ten square meters, and this was the first time Elliott had his own office.
  • Needless to say, he felt quite pleasant.
  • Throughout the morning, Elliott had noticed that the traditional medicine department held no significant reputation.
  • Especially after Elliott stepped in, even though he was the lead doctor in name, almost everyone found it hard to trust him due to his young age.
  • Lunchtime had arrived, and Elliott heard that there was a cafeteria in the hospital.
  • Elliott was getting ready to go take a look. What he held in his hand was a meal card given to him by Paul. It was said to contain a subsidy of two hundred.
  • That amount was enough for Elliott.
  • Inside the cafeteria, there were not only doctors but also patients.
  • Elliott got his meal and sat down when his colleagues from the same department took their seats across from him.
  • “Hey, isn't this our department's new lead doctor?”
  • “That's right! Let's speculate. What's his background that he became the lead doctor as soon as he arrived?”
  • “Look at his shabby appearance. There's no way he could have any influential connections! Who knows what kind of underhanded tricks he's used?”
  • The prestige of being the lead doctor at Hofcaster General Hospital was undeniable. The mere mention of it was enough to inspire admiration in anyone.
  • These individuals had been in the department for several years already, still serving as regular practicing doctors.
  • However, when Elliott arrived, he immediately became the lead doctor of the department. Naturally, anyone would be green with envy.
  • Precisely because of this, these individuals had come looking for trouble.
  • The person leading the group was Howard Andrade, a doctor greatly respected by Paul. He was the first one who refused to accept Elliott.
  • “So, you're Elliott, right? Tell me, what exactly is your relationship with Dr. Collier?” Howard asked.
  • Elliott chuckled. “Does it matter? Does it concern you?”
  • “D*mn it! Are you choosing to do this the hard way?” Howard was displeased, readying his hand to grab at Elliott's collar.
  • With swift movements, Elliott quickly withdrew.
  • Unaware, Howard plunged straight into his meal, staining his pristine white coat with food smears.
  • “You!” Howard saw red.
  • As Howard geared up to confront Elliott once more, determined to teach him a lesson that day, he found himself unable to move.
  • “What's going on? Why can't I move my body?” Howard noticed Elliott standing off to the side, enjoying the spectacle. “It's you!”
  • “Are you trying to bully me? You ought to check if you're even qualified to do so! Half an hour from now, you'll be able to move. I'll head back first!” Elliott waved his hand and took his leave.
  • From a young age, Elliott devoted himself to studying traditional medicine. By the time he was in his teens, he had fully mastered these ancient skills. His use of silver needles was particularly impressive, and he had reached the acme of perfection.
  • In Albus' words, Elliott was naturally intelligent and simply born for this line of work.
  • Upon returning to his office, Elliott found himself without an appetite.
  • After enduring until the end of the workday, Elliott promptly left. Hofcaster General Hospital is quite close to Rudowski Group, isn't it? Perhaps I should check on my wife!
  • After much thought, Elliott went to a nearby flower shop and bought a bouquet of roses. After that, he was on his way to pick up Theresa from work.
  • Outside Rudowski Group's building, a red sports car was parked.
  • A man dressed in a suit with his hair slicked back stepped out of the car. He was also holding a bouquet of roses.
  • Well, city folks sure know how to have fun. Elliott glanced at his roses before he lowered his head and continued on his journey.
  • The next moment, a familiar figure emerged from Rudowski Group.
  • Theresa was dressed in a pristine, white, long skirt that day, which perfectly accentuated her figure.
  • As she walked, Theresa gradually made her way toward the man.
  • “Wow! A handsome guy with a beautiful girl!”
  • “That sports car must be worth millions, right?”
  • “That's so romantic!”
  • Elliott was left standing dumbstruck as he heard the words from the bystanders. Am I being cheated on? What's going on here? Who's this rascal trying to steal my wife?
  • Refusing to give in, Elliott approached the man and Theresa, eager to overhear their conversation.
  • “Javier, I've told you countless times! Stop coming to my office!” Theresa said.
  • Javier Wade removed his sunglasses, his face filled with unrequited love. “Why? Theresa, is it because I'm not good enough? My family, the Wade family, has wealth and status. We are just right for you.”
  • A look of distaste filled Theresa's face. “I'm already married.”
  • A smile spread across Elliott's face when he heard those words. Yes! I still hold a place in my wife's heart.
  • “When did you get married? How come I didn't know?” Javier was taken aback as if he hadn't heard of it before.
  • Although Melvin had hosted their wedding, it was only attended by the Rudowski family. It was normal for others to be unaware of it.
  • Theresa raised the ring in her hand. “This is the best proof.”
  • Javier frowned, examining the situation thoroughly before bursting into laughter. “Haha! I don't believe it!” he exclaimed.
  • “Is there anyone in Hofcaster who could possibly be more suited for you than I am? Theresa, I know your character. There's no way you would ever settle for a random marriage!”
