Chapter 5 Big Dipper Technique

  • Corvin lunged forward and shouted with an exaggerated expression, “Dad! What's going on? You can't leave me!”
  • Theresa found herself pushed to the back of the crowd, her eyes slightly reddened. “Grandpa! Grandpa, please be okay!”
  • The past was vivid in her mind. Despite the Rudowski family's elevated status, deceit was a frequent occurrence. Only Melvin sincerely cared for her.
  • “I can't let anything happen to Grandpa!”
  • In the midst of the dire situation, Theresa thought of Elliott.
  • He was so confident earlier, even accurately stating each person's condition.
  • Doe he really have some talent?
  • Let's give it a shot! We've got nothing to lose at this point.
  • Theresa burst out of the room, catching sight of Elliott's retreating figure at the end of the hallway.
  • “Dr. Elliott!”
  • With a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth, Elliott turned his head back and asked, “What's the matter?”
  • Elliott knew that the doctor's capabilities were not sufficient to save Melvin. He would have to turn back and seek his help.
  • He was just that confident because he was the only one present capable of treating Melvin.
  • “Can you... really cure my grandfather?” Theresa rushed over, her forehead dotted with tiny beads of sweat.
  • With considerable effort, Elliott managed to avert his gaze from her heaving chest. He cleared his throat lightly and said, “Of course!”
  • “Please, I beg you to save my grandfather! I'm willing to pay any price!”
  • Theresa clenched her fists, biting hard on her lip.
  • If it wasn't for her grandfather, she would never have sought help from this man, as he just seemed too unreliable.
  • But at the moment, there seemed to be no other options.
  • “Do you think I'll just go back because you said so? Don't forget, you were the one who drove me away in the first place,” Elliott said with a cold smile.
  • “But... I was wrong before. I was just too worried about my grandfather. You were right about the outcome. You must be capable. Please, I beg you to save my grandfather!” Theresa pleaded, tears welling in her eyes. She was close to kneeling before Elliott.
  • “Give me a kiss and I'll go.” Elliott pointed to his cheek.
  • “You...” A hint of embarrassment flashed across Theresa's face. “Can you switch to another one? I can pay you.”
  • “Forget it, then,” Elliott said, ready to leave right away.
  • “Hey! I...” Theresa hastily called out to Elliott and gave him a peck on his cheek.
  • “Can you save my grandfather now?” Theresa glared at him.
  • “Sure, let's go!” Elliott nodded, his heart filled with satisfaction.
  • In the end, Theresa led Elliott back to Melvin's room.
  • The Rudowski brothers were gathered around the bed, while the Rudowski grandchildren were forced to stand aside.
  • Upon seeing Elliott appear, Pedro was instantly displeased. He mocked, “How do you still have the nerve to show up? Ah, I get it now! You're just trying to take advantage of the situation to rip off the Rudowski family.”
  • “Get lost!” Elliott cursed out loud. “You think everyone is as cunning as you?”
  • He could tell that Pedro was not a good person based on his looks.
  • Crossing her arms, Thalia didn't hold back her words as she snapped, “This is outrageous! It's amazing how a fraud can act so brazenly. How shameless! Someone must have given you a little something, huh?”
  • She can scold me, but not Theresa!
  • Ever since he found out about this marriage alliance, and especially given Theresa's stunning beauty, Elliott had claimed her as his own in his heart.
  • It's a universal truth that men should protect women.
  • “What the hell are you? What gives you the right to judge others? Better take care of yourself first!”
  • “You!”
  • Despite their visible frustration, Elliott didn't spare them another glance.
  • He approached the bed, promptly removing all of Paul's silver needles.
  • “Hey! What are you doing?” Paul asked Elliott angrily.
  • Elliott cast a disdainful glance at Paul. “You're dealing with hypokalemia, yet you inserted needles into his temples? Is this the acupuncture you were taught? I feel secondhand embarrassment for your teacher!”
  • Paul stepped back, furrowing his brows. “What did you say? Are you telling me it's hypokalemia?”
  • “What else do you think it is?”
  • Elliott raised an eyebrow.
  • Isn't traditional medicine diagnosis through observation supposed to be straightforward? Now even that can't give a diagnosis anymore? He must have forgotten what he had learned.
  • Corvin rose to his feet, seemingly displeased with Elliott's attitude. “You little brat! Who let you in here! Get out immediately or you'll regret this!”
  • Elliott, who had been invited by Theresa, completely ignored Corvin. He crossed his arms and looked at him.
  • “Sorry, I was invited by Theresa! It has nothing to do with you! Besides, I came here to save Old Mr. Rudowski! Why are you so eager to send me away? Do you want something bad to happen to Old Mr. Rudowski?”
  • What a clever ploy of sowing discord! He's insinuating that I'm denying Dad the treatment he needs.
  • Corvin glared at Elliott and changed his target to Devin.
  • “Devin! Didn't your daughter invite him?”
  • Devin stepped forward and said to Elliott, “Sir, the Rudowski family doesn't require your medical services at the moment. We kindly ask you to leave.”
  • Elliott turned his head, his eyebrows raised inquisitively as he looked at Theresa. “Is this what you think as well?”
  • The atmosphere was tense. Corvin looked at Theresa with undisguised distaste.
  • Theresa clenched her fists, stepping forward. “Uncle Corvin, Uncle Gavin, Dad, I brought Dr. Elliott here. I trust in his medical skills. Please, trust me and give him a chance.”
  • “Theresa!” Devin's voice carried a tone of authority.
  • However, Theresa wouldn't budge an inch.
  • This took Devin by surprise. Theresa usually listens to me. Does he really have what it takes?
  • Subsequently, Devin conceded. “Corvin, Gavin, we don't have a better solution right now. We can't just stand by and watch Father suffer. I'm endorsing Dr. Elliott to treat Father. If anything were to go wrong, our family would take full responsibility!”
  • Corvin narrowed his eyes, realizing it would be unfair to object any further. He softened his voice and said, “All right, but we must observe this young man as he treats Father.”
  • “No problem!” Devin turned around. “Dr. Elliott, please treat my father!”
  • All eyes were focused on Elliott, who gave a nod.
  • Elliott faced Melvin and took out an old acupuncture kit. The design on it was quite impressive.
  • The acupuncture kit was opened, revealing a total of one hundred and eight silver needles, each of varying lengths and sizes.
  • Elliott produced seven silver needles, flashing a confident smile. “Prepare to witness the power of the Dragon-Phoenix Needles!”
  • With swift precision, he inserted seven silver needles into the back of Melvin's head, forming a pattern resembling the Big Dipper.
  • Others didn't understand, but Paul, being a practitioner of traditional medicine, was taken aback, his body trembling in response.
  • “Is this the long-lost Big Dipper Technique?”
  • Throughout history, numerous acupuncture techniques in traditional medicine had been lost. Paul had only learned the basic ones. He was not competent enough to form any complex patterns.
  • However, the true masters of traditional medicine were adept at authentic acupuncture techniques. They could utilize certain patterns for acupuncture, maximizing its therapeutic effects.
  • This information was relayed by Paul's teacher, who, of course, had discovered it in an ancient text.
  • At that moment, he was actually witnessing the lost art of the acupuncture technique with his own eyes.
  • A quarter of an hour later, Elliott withdrew the silver needles, and from his pocket, he produced a brown pill which he placed into Melvin's mouth.
  • “What is that? You fed it to my father without even checking?” Corvin rebuked, stepping forward.
  • “Three! Two! One!”
  • However, Elliott was counting with a smile.
  • “Corv...”
  • A feeble voice emanated from the bed, and Melvin opened his eyes.
  • “Dad!”
  • The Rudowski brothers once again rushed to their father's side to check on him.
