Chapter 1 The Mentee Of Albus Lozano
- "Ah... El, don't touch there. It's dirty... That's where I relieve myself!"
- "Ah!"
- The young girl's piercing screams shattered the tranquility of the small village on the mountain, causing the young man lying nearby on the ground to lift his head.
- The young man had dashing eyebrows and sparkling eyes, his youthful face still bearing traces of innocence. Under the scorching sun, beads of sweat trailed down his cheeks.
- At that moment, the young man's expression was rather unpleasant. The toilet was clogged; and as the only man of the house, he had no choice but to endure the stench and clean the cesspool.
- “If you keep screaming, you can clean up the shit yourself!”
- The young man's words instantly silenced the girl. She blinked her bright, large eyes and obediently assumed the role of a bystander. However, she couldn't hide the smile that spread across her face.
- The young man was named Elliott Lozano, affectionately known as El. He had been living with his mentor, Albus Lozano, in a village known as Lusterg since he was a child.
- The young woman's name was Lola. They were considered childhood sweethearts.
- That day, Lola's puppy, Buck had fallen into a cesspool, so she had called over Elliott for help.
- After a short while, Elliott emerged from the cesspool, holding a puppy covered in grime.
- Lola was completely unfazed by the strong smell emanating from the two of them. With a sweet smile on her face, she picked up a cup of water and walked over to hand it to the young man.
- “El, you're truly wonderful,” she exclaimed. “I'll give you a special treat tonight!”
- “Pfft!”
- Elliott nearly choked on his own saliva.
- Even though he knew that wasn't what she meant, his gaze couldn't help but wander over her shapely figure.
- Lola seemed to have noticed Elliott's gaze. Her face flushed with embarrassment, yet she subtly leaned forward.
- “El, I really appreciate your help. I've prepared a bath for you. Take a bath and then let's have dinner together at Mdm. Martha's place before you leave.”
- Elliott was staring at her dazedly when an elegant silhouette carrying a waft of delightful scent entered the courtyard.
- Her name was Martha. Two years into her marriage, her husband was involved in a car accident while on a trip down the mountain for supplies. From then on, she lived alone with her daughter. Due to her stunning beauty, she had a constant stream of suitors knocking at her door. However, Martha never responded to any of them. Gradually, she became known as the most attractive widow in the entire Lusterg.
- The blush on Lola's face deepened when she saw Martha. She quickly scooped up her puppy and dashed out of the courtyard, mumbling, “Mom, I'm going to give Buck a bath.”
- Once Lola was out of sight, Martha tentatively asked, “Did a rich woman come to seek medical help from Albus a while ago?”
- Elliott let out a light sigh. “Yeah, but Dad's whereabouts are always unpredictable. Who knows where he's off gallivanting now.”
- After some thought, Martha said, “The bodyguard mentioned that if you cure the rich woman's grandfather, not only will you receive half of their fortune, but you'll also have the opportunity to become their live-in son-in-law.”
- “Mdm. Martha, what are you thinking about? Who knows what that rich woman looks like? What if she weighs over two hundred pounds? With my skinny arms and legs, I wouldn't be able to handle it. Besides, I'd rather marry you than become a live-in son-in-law.”
- Martha quickly glanced toward the door, but there was no sign of Lola. Her heart pounded in her chest, and she rolled her eyes at Elliott. “You're going to be the death of me for saying that. You know how much Lola cares for you. If she heard this, she'd probably hate me forever.”
- “Mdm. Martha, you know very well that ever since we were children, I've always regarded Lola as a sister—”
- Knock, knock, knock!
- Just as Elliott was about to make his next move, a frantic knock at the door interrupted him.
- “Who is it?” Elliott asked, his tone somewhat impatient.
- “May I ask if Mr. Elliott is here?”
- Elliott pushed the door open, only to find two burly men in black and a young woman standing outside.
- Upon catching sight of this woman for the first time, Elliott found himself unable to tear his gaze away.
- The reason was simple. She was just too beautiful.
- The woman before him wore a touch of subtle makeup. Her face, delicate and intricately beautiful, was reminiscent of a finely crafted painting. Her skin was fair and smooth, and her eyes were large and luminous. An enticing allure emanated from her, rendering one breathless.
- She was dressed in professional office attire, a form-fitting black skirt hugging her hips. Below, her pair of slender and straight legs were clad in black stockings.
- What truly captivated Elliott's gaze was the woman's figure.
- Sensing Elliott's intense gaze on her, Theresa Rudowski felt a great disgust in her heart.
- She also noticed Martha standing behind Elliott. When she recalled the tightly shut door from earlier, the disgust in her heart deepened.
- However, her grandfather's illness had already reached a critical stage.
- Theresa couldn't help but take a deep breath. She forcefully suppressed the urge to turn around and leave, and said, “Mr. Elliott, I sincerely hope you can help save my grandfather.”
- Elliott was somewhat taken aback. He hadn't expected the rich woman Martha spoke of to be so young and beautiful. He couldn't help but take a second glance.
- “Dr. Albus said that you're his mentee with medical skills no less than his own. He asked you to go in his stead,” Theresa continued, noticing that Elliott remained silent.
- At the same time, she took a crumpled piece of paper from the bodyguard standing next to her and handed it to Elliott.
- The handwriting above was as messy as a child's scrawl, yet Elliott recognized it immediately. It was Albus' handwriting.
- It read: El, I can't make it back from my travels. Old Mr. Rudowski and I have been acquainted for a long time. Many years ago, we had already arranged a marriage alliance. This is a good opportunity for you to get to know the daughter of the Rudowski family better. I am well, so don't worry about me!
- After reading, Elliott was dumbfounded. Albus had actually arranged a marriage behind his back.
- Is he looking down on me? He even tried to set me up with a rich woman.
- I will never stoop to becoming a live-in son-in-law!
- However, considering the woman had traveled a long distance and Albus had left a letter of instructions, Elliott made up his mind.
- Whether she's a rich woman or not doesn't matter. What's important is that she's traveled a great distance for her grandfather's illness. As a doctor, how can I just stand by and not help when someone's life is at stake?
- A serious expression crossed Elliott's face as he said, “Since the old man has spoken, I guess I'll accompany you on this journey. Just give me a moment to pack my things.”
- After saying that, he turned around and entered the room, leaving Theresa and the bodyguards standing outside the door, exchanging glances.
- “Mdm. Martha, the old man has given his orders. So, I'll heed his advice and go treat the patient.”
- Elliott quickly washed up. Then under Martha's melancholic gaze, he slung his bag over his shoulder and left the yard.
- “Let's go! What are you standing there for?” Elliott said, looking at the three people who were foolishly standing outside the door.
- Theresa looked at the dubious-looking young man in hemp clothing before her. Despite her reservations, she couldn't help but express her skepticism.
- “Are you really Dr. Albus' mentee?”
