I looked up and saw Aunt Judy, my father’s sister, looking at me in wide-eyed disbelief. “Is it really you, Lily? When did you come?”
Aunt Judy’s voice was naturally loud, so it was literally booming right now as she spoke with astonishment. My mother hurriedly stopped her. “Judy, please keep your voice down. Lily’s dad doesn't know Lily is here!”
“Sorry, I didn't mean to be so loud.” Stunned, Aunt Judy glanced at the closed door to the ward, then she immediately lowered her voice. “My brother hadn’t heard me, right?”
Before my mother could speak, the door of the ward was opened from inside, and Dylan walked out. “Lily, Mr. Hawkins asked you to go in!”
Aunt Judy’s loud voice had indeed gotten to my father. Well, sooner or later, I would have to face him; I couldn’t hide away for a lifetime. However, now that my dad’s health wasn’t great, I still felt a little worried that he would be agitated when he saw me, which might affect his health.
Naturally, my mother thought the same, so she lowered her voice and told me, “Lily, be careful when talking to your dad. No matter what he says, don't talk back, okay? Just listen quietly, alright?”
