Chapter 13

  • I was taken aback by Evan's words. His hands were now resting on her shoulders, and it left me in a state of utter confusion. This was the same man who had been obsessed with me. I watched as Sophia tenderly caressed his hands and said, "Baby, you're here." She turned to face him and kissed him right in front of me. I couldn't understand why I was feeling this way, but my heart was burning.
  • Without thinking, I pushed both of them slightly and quickly made my way out of that place. I didn't even look for Sky, not wanting to disrupt her romantic moment. As I successfully left the bar, I tried to catch a cab wiping away the tears that were now flowing uncontrollable. However, that's when I felt strong hands covering my mouth with a cloth, and suddenly, I couldn't feel, hear, or see anything. Everything turned to darkness.
  • Hours Back
  • Evan's POV
  • I was at my sister's house, where she and her husband, William, were a happily married couple. I often visited them during times like this. I was playing riddles with their seven-year-old son, Junior. He was a bright and witty kid who could answer every riddle I threw at him.
  • As we played, Junior confidently answered my riddles, even coming up with witty responses of his own. Then, he asked me, "Uncle, why do you always walk around with those men with guns?" I decided to turn it into a question, "Why do I always have bodyguards?" , "To protect your body." Junior replied, "Yes, you said it, bodyguards. They are guarding your body." He continued, I couldn't help but laugh at his cleverness.
  • Before I could respond, there was a knock on the door, and William, Junior's father, entered after getting his son's permission. He affectionately kissed Junior's forehead, which earned a pout from the boy, who declared that kisses were for babies. William then sent Junior to tell his mom to get their water for the library as they will be doing his homework.
  • Junior bid me farewell, and I promised him a prize for his cleverness. This boy's maturity always surprised me; he was unlike most children who would typically run around the house.
  • As William and I chatted, I couldn't help but ask, "How did you know my sister was the one?" I was seeking a man's perspective as I planned to talk to my sister about my situation with Amy but changed my mind.
  • William replied, "When she's the one, you'll just know. The feeling is different. From a writer's point of view, for you, if you start feeling jealous or possessive, that's a sign. You've never been a jealous person before." I nodded, realizing that Amy might indeed be the one. Now, the challenge was how to convince her, especially with this contract looming over us.
  • My mood took a turn when I received a call on my family phone, which I kept separate from my celebrity phone. It was Sophia calling, and I couldn't afford to miss her calls, given that it might be related to our daughter. To my shock, a man's voice was on the other end, threatening that they had Amelia and would harm her if I didn't follow their instructions.
  • My heart skipped a beat, and I couldn't allow anyone to harm her, especially with all she had been through after that night. I immediately put on my shoes and prepared to leave. William, my brother-in-law, asked what was happening, and I couldn't keep it from him. I explained the situation and asked him not to tell my pregnant sister, Angie, as I didn't want her to worry.
  • William agreed not to inform Angie and offered his support. Rushing downstairs, I met my sister down there, but I was in too much of a hurry to listen to her request to help with making meatballs like we did when we were kids. I informed her about the studio calling and hurried out.
  • I rushed to the bar, covering the 10-minute drive in less than that. With only two of my guards, Eric and an unfamiliar colleague, in tow, I ensured Sky's safety and pretended to follow their orders for the sake of Amy's safety. Once inside, I made my way to the ladies' restroom and waited outside the door.
  • Hearing Amy admit that she knew I loved her made my heart skip a beat. Yes, I loved her, and I couldn't deny it. However, I was in a tricky situation. Sophia had a gun in her purse, and one wrong move from me could get Amy killed. So, I walked into the restroom and said exactly what Sophia wanted me to say.
  • I didn't know what Amy was thinking at this point, and I wished I could read her mind. She pushed me slightly as she stormed out, and I wished she could have done more. As soon as she left, I pushed Sophia aside and called Eric to position himself quickly. Sophia kept talking, saying things I don't even remember, probably asking for a second chance, but I didn't care.
  • I received a text from Eric confirming that the job was done, and I couldn't hold back but want to leave when Sophia said "I can give you head if you want, you know i do it good" She shamelessly said trying to touch me but i pushed her away, "She's just a peasant. I'm better than her," Sophia clearly annoyed. I scoffed and retorted, "Trust me, Sophia, Amy is ten times better than you. And next time, think twice before pulling this stunt. You're a mother, for goodness' sake."
  • I rushed out of the restroom and reached the car. Opening the backseat, I found Amy asleep, her face peaceful but with dried tears on her cheeks. I asked Eric, "Did you hurt her?" in an angry tone. He quickly reassured me, "No, boss, she came out wiping tears. I promise I didn't hurt her." I nodded and sat beside her, resting her head on my chest, whispering, "I am sorry," even though she couldn't hear me.
  • In the present,
  • I found myself outside the yacht. After the events of last night, I couldn't return to the apartment. I needed to make sure Amy was safe, and I couldn't risk putting her life in danger. Amy had been sleeping, and the doctor assured me that she was fine, though she needed her medication due to her heart condition, which made her vulnerable to too much pain or excitement.
  • As much as I cherished the fact that Amy was in love with me, I also didn't want her to suffer. I was still contemplating how to explain the situation to her when I heard a voice from behind me, saying, "She's awake, boss."
